Job summary

The Massage Therapist at Fairmont Orchid Hawaii provides massage and body treatments to our spa guests in a luxury resort setting on Hawai‘i Island. Candidates must hold a Hawaii State Massage Therapy license in good standing and enjoy educating guests on services and products.

Ideal applicants will have strong guest service skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work a flexible schedule including peak periods, weekends and holidays. Knowledge of spa programs is a plus.

Job Description

The Massage Therapist performs all massage and body treatments in a safe and professional manner to our guests.

What you will be doing:

• Administer massage and other body treatments to spa guests according to treatment outline.
• Greet guest with proper salutation and a smile.
• Assess and accommodate guest needs inquiring about their physical well being in order to perform appropriate service.
• Desire and ability to educate and sell products to guests and staff.
• Ideal candidates offer flexible, on-call availability and are excited to support our Spa Without Walls team during peak business periods, weekends, and holidays.
• Explain treatment services and products to guests in a knowledgeable, professional and thorough manner.
• Be knowledgeable and informed regarding all massage/body treatments, general spa and resort programs and services.
• Participate in and contribute to staff meetings, training, product knowledge classes and team efforts.
• Provide necessary information to compile complete guest records.
• Promote and execute effective retail sales.
• Maintain a clean, organized and safe working environment.
• Abide by all Hawaii State Board guidelines.
• Comply with all Fairmont Orchid safety and health policies and procedures.
• Uphold and maintain the cleanliness and neatness of the treatment areas and Spa facilities.
• Conduct tours of the facility as requested.
• Provide necessary information to compile complete guest records.
• Treat all sensitive personal medical information on guest in strictest confidence.
• Report any problems incurred immediately to the Principal Therapist or Director of Spa & Wellness
• Report for scheduled shifts promptly and ready to work.
• Maintain a positive, guest service oriented attitude and a sense of humor. Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor and/or manager

Qualifications

Your experience and skills include:

• Must be professional, service oriented, accurate, gentle and work with attention to detail, striving to exceed the expectations of every guest every time.
• High School Diploma or equivalent required. Knowledge of Microsoft Office application, Book4time and basic accounting principles.
• Excellent personal appearance, good verbal and written communication skills. Ability to handle stressful situations professionally and multitask with ease all while focusing on the guest. Knowledge of guest service and/or hospitality industry a plus.
• Minimum two years administrating massage/body treatment services in a luxury resort or spa setting preferred.
• Candidates must hold a current Hawai‘i State Massage Therapy License in good standing and maintain all required certifications.

Additional Information

Direct service providers such as Massage Therapists are entitled to earn "commissions".

• Massage Therapists are eligible to receive 30% - 34% "commissions" of the price paid and received by the Hotel for the service performed by the provider.

Must be legally eligible to work in the United States. The hotel is unable to assist candidates in obtaining U.S. work authorization.
