Job summary

Mind Body & Skin in West Springfield is seeking a Licensed Massage Therapist to join our small, boutique spa. You will perform Therapeutic and Swedish massages, help expand our service menu, and work with a close-knit team to ensure client relaxation and balance.

We offer flexible Saturday and weeknight hours and opportunities for ongoing training. We value a collaborative environment where staff support each other and share referrals for complementary services.

Qualifications

• Massachusetts Massage Therapy License required.
• Experience preferred but not mandatory.
• Strong communication and organizational skills essential.

Responsibilities

• Consulting and evaluating clients to assess needs and outcomes.

About Us

Hi there, Mind Body & Skin is in search of a Licensed Massage Therapist to work at our small boutique-type spa, here in West Springfield. We offer massage, body treatments, facials, waxing, and reiki. We recently opened a Wellness Center next door, so if wellness is your thing or interests you, this is the place for you. We tend to have a small team with very little drama, which is lovely. Everyone works at the front desk ringing out their customers and helping each other. We have an online booking system but do answer some calls and work hard to be sure all customers find a time in the schedule that suits them.

As a Massage Therapist here at the spa, we do have a menu of massage services, so you would need to perform both Therapeutic Massage and Swedish Massage (called Relaxation Massage on our menu). We offer some specialty massages, and sometimes we can arrange more training if you need it. If you have experience with massage types not on our menu, we are happy to add to the menu to offer different massages for the customers. Let's grow!

The hours available are currently Saturdays (we discuss what works for you) and weeknights. Let's chat, as we don't have to cover all the hours available, but we can if you are available to do so. Please keep in mind, team members do help to cover each other's hours for vacations and days off, when possible, to be sure we keep a fairly steady schedule for customers.

Key Responsibilities

• Consulting and Evaluating Clients: Assessing client needs, medical history, and desired outcomes for massage therapy.
• Working as a Team: Maintaining cleanliness of the spa, scheduling clients, and ringing out services. (An online booking system is in place to help cut down individual responsibility per staff.)
• Providing Guidance and Education: Sharing knowledge of self-care techniques and exercises to enhance the benefits of massage therapy. Ability to grow with new situations presented by customers, and willingness to search for new techniques to help them.
• Documentation and Record Keeping: Maintaining accurate records of client sessions, progress, and treatment plans.
• Promoting Wellness: Educating clients about the benefits of massage therapy and its role in overall health and well-being.
• Maintaining a Professional and Therapeutic Environment: Ensuring a clean and relaxing space for massage sessions, including proper hygiene and sanitation.

Required Skills and Qualifications

• Knowledge of Human Anatomy and Physiology: Understanding the body's structures and functions to perform effective massages.
• Excellent Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Ability to establish rapport with clients, listen to their needs, and provide clear guidance.
• Strong Organizational Skills: Efficiently managing appointments, maintaining records, and handling other administrative tasks (training is provided on the booking/POS system).
• Professional Appearance and Demeanor: Presenting oneself in a manner that inspires trust and confidence in clients.

Experience

• Applicant must have a valid Massachusetts Massage Therapy License.
• Experience as a Massage Therapist preferred but not required.
