Overview

Presbyterian Homes & Services - Optage Hospice is seeking a Full-TimeMassage Therapist for its team.

This position includes visiting clients in their home, skilled nursing facility or assisted living setting throughout the metro area. This position offers flexibility in your schedule working according the need of our patients with approximately 30-40 hours weekly, daytime hours and no weekends.

Optage Hospice offers older adult patients, their families and caregivers the care, insight and guidance to live as fully and comfortably as possible. Our comprehensive program is designed to help our clients achieve the best quality of life, ensuring they receive loving care and respect. A customized, family-centered plan of care is developed for the clients and is updated continuously. Services are provided in surroundings that are familiar; a private home, assisted living, memory care, skilled nursing care center - wherever you call home.

Responsibilities

The Massage Therapist is responsible for enhancing the quality of life for our clients and through planning, organizing, and provide massage therapy that creates a caring and safe environment, addresses the comfort needs of the people we serve.

  • Provides direct massage therapy according to directions of Clinical Administrator and in accordance with the plan of care. Assesses referral/patient for appropriate medical indication for services and performs assessment to determine effectiveness of therapy.
  • Treats patient to relieve symptoms and provide relaxation and comfort. Directs and aids patients through massage therapy interventions to assist with alleviating symptoms of anxiety, agitation, restlessness sleeplessness, pain, muscle tension, circulation, stiffness, contractures, limited mobility, relaxation, and comfort. Utilize interventions such as but not limited to: Swedish Massage, Comfort Touch, Energy work, and compressions. Bring awareness to clinical team of appropriateness and recommendations for treatment.
  • Observes and reports to the Clinical Administrator the patient’s response to treatment and any changes in patient’s condition. Provide education and resources for family.
  • Participates in the quality assessment performance improvement teams and activities. Provides education and awareness to clinical team regarding appropriateness for therapy treatment. Participates in interdisciplinary group and organization in-service education program as needed.
  • Create a positive customer experience by prompt attention to service requests. Anticipate and act accordingly to common re-occurring customer needs. Graciously accommodate interruptions.
  • As a member of the Optage team, actively participate in department and facility activities, meetings and processes. Assist in the orientation of new team members as assigned. Effectively collaborate with department, maintain effective communication systems with all customers.
    Intentionally work to improve systems, programs, and processes. Cultivate ideas and learn from one another. Provide input for function related project and policy work.
    Maintain records, charts and electronic files to ensure information is accurate, complete and filed appropriately. Independently document assessments performed that meet the highest standards for detail, timeliness and quality of the information.
  • Maintains necessary records; clinical notes and coordination notes.
Qualifications
  1. Certificate in Massage Therapy required.
  2. Graduate of an accredited massage therapy program. Current license or certification required by state law.
  3. At least 1 year of experience in practice as a massage therapist, experience working with older adults, hospice preferred.
  4. Possess good oral and written communication skills.
  5. Able to work independently and as an interdisciplinary team member.
  6. Utilize professional knowledge and technical expertise through the consistent application of concepts, methods, and principles of massage therapy.
  7. Must be adaptable and flexible, willing to cross over geographic areas as needed.
Pay Range
The estimated starting pay range for this role is $26.33 to $30.12 per hour. This good faith estimate is based upon PHS’s typical starting pay range for this role. Actual pay range depends on many factors including each individual employee’s qualifications and market conditions and is subject to change.
