The Massage Therapist assesses client needs within the scope of massage therapy practice, develops appropriate massage sessions, maintains professional boundaries and client confidentiality, and promotes a safe, inclusive environment. Grounded by our mission and strengthened by the global YMCA movement we will elevate our people, purpose, partnerships and promise.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSConsult with clients regarding relevant health history, goals, areas of discomfort, contraindications and preferences, and determine whether massage therapy is appropriate within the therapist's scope of practice.Evaluate soft-tissue condition, joint quality and function, muscle tension and range of motion as appropriate to massage therapy practice, and provide massage techniques consistent with client needs, consent, training and scope of practice.Obtain and respect client consent; maintain appropriate draping, privacy, professional boundaries and ethical standards throughout each session.Recognize conditions or client needs that are outside the Massage Therapist's scope of practice and refer the client to an appropriate health care professional when indicated.Accurately and timely maintain client records and protect confidential information in accordance with YMCA procedures and applicable requirements.Maintain a clean, sanitary, organized and safe treatment environment, including appropriate cleaning of equipment, linens and high-touch surfaces between clients.Communicate professionally and inclusively with clients, members, guests and colleagues and contribute to a welcoming environment where people feel respected and supported.Attend and remain current on required YMCA training and staff meetings, including emergency procedures and other position-specific training.Follow YMCA policies and procedures, including personnel guidelines, facility access procedures, membership policies, emergency plans and applicable health and safety practices.Support the YMCA's mission, annual support campaign and organizational initiatives as appropriate to the role.Perform other duties as assigned that are consistent with the position's responsibilities and the employee's qualifications.LEADERSHIP COMPETENCIESClear CommunicationCustomer ServiceInclusionSUPERVISION RESPONSIBILITIESNone.WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDSThe physical demands described here are representative of those needed to perform the essential functions of this job. Coverage must meet or exceed Colorado's statutory minimum of $50,000 per claim and $300,000 aggregate annually. Proof of current coverage must be provided upon hire, at renewal, and upon request.At least one year of professional massage therapy experience preferred.Education and training sufficient to meet Colorado massage therapist licensure requirements; additional training in modalities offered by the YMCA is preferred.Demonstrated knowledge and skill in applicable massage modalities, which may include Swedish, sports, deep tissue, trigger point, prenatal, hot stone and reflexology, when appropriately trained and permitted within the therapist's scope of practice.Strong communication, customer service, documentation and problem-solving skills.Demonstrated ability to maintain client confidentiality, informed consent, professional boundaries and ethical conduct.Professional, dependable and collaborative approach consistent with YMCA values.Current CPR/AED and First Aid certification, or ability to obtain and maintain certification within the timeframe established by the YMCA.BENEFITSFree individual membershipProgram discountsGenerous Retirement Contribution Options -Includes company contribution of 10% once eligibility is metEmployee Assistance ProgramAccrue 1 hour of paid sick leave for every 30 hours workedPaid Time off for those scheduled and working 20+ per week
