Job description

Under the direction of the Supervisor of Spa Services, the Massage Therapist provides relaxation, wellness and restoration to guests through Best in Class Spa services, including massages, body treatments and overall general wellness care. The therapist maintains operational excellence, product/service knowledge and superior safety and sanitization best practices, ensuring a clean and safe environment for all patrons, team members and vendors while safeguarding enterprise assets and guaranteeing departmental integrity.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Greets spa guests, ensures their comfort during service and wait time, and provides massages and/or body treatments using a variety of techniques. Upholds enterprise, industry and departmental policies and procedures, and monitors the schedule throughout the shift.
• Prepares treatment rooms and tools prior to appointments. Keeps treatment areas clean and sanitized, restocks products, and manages laundry following safety and sanitization practices.
• Communicates professionally with guests to identify medical issues, allergies, and other concerns, discusses wellness goals, and ensures confidential handling of personal information.
• Assists with opening and closing duties for spa services, maintaining cleanliness, health and safety of all spa facilities and dispensary areas.
• Collaborates with upper management on the development and positioning of spa treatment and service offerings, staying current with industry standards and techniques.
• Assists with the loyalty wellness membership program.
• Performs other duties as assigned to support efficient department operation.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Minimum two (2) years of Massage Therapist experience required.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSA)

• Ability to communicate verbally across all levels of the enterprise.
• Good presentation skills.
• Excellent writing skills and strong computer skills covering Microsoft Office and all compliance applications.

LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS AND REGISTRATIONS

• Professional Massage Therapy license in California required.
• At the discretion of the San Manuel Tribal Gaming Commission, a gaming license may be required.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS / WORKING CONDITIONS – ENVIRONMENT

The primary work environment is a climate‑controlled office setting with occasional travel to meetings, trade shows and conferences. The role may require evening, weekend and holiday shifts. Required physical capabilities include lifting, carrying or moving objects up to 10 pounds on an occasional basis and up to 40 pounds occasionally, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, and repetitive motions. The position involves primarily sedentary work, including extended periods of sitting, standing, walking and operating a computer and related office equipment. Exposure to fumes or airborne particles, including secondhand smoke, may occur. Reasonable accommodation will be provided in compliance with applicable law.
