Job summary

The Dallas Mavericks are seeking a seasoned Massage Therapist to support the Player Health & Performance team. You will deliver sports and soft tissue treatments to aid recovery, injury prevention, and performance optimization for roster athletes.

The role requires deep expertise in massage modalities, strong anatomy knowledge, and the ability to work flexible hours, including travel with the team. A Texas licensure or eligibility is essential.

Qualifications

  • Current MBLEx certification or eligibility to obtain Texas Massage Therapy Licensure.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of massage therapy experience, preferably with professional athletes or high-performance populations.
  • Demonstrated expertise in sports massage and soft tissue treatment techniques.
  • Strong understanding of anatomy, biomechanics, injury prevention, and recovery principles.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with athletes and multidisciplinary performance teams.
  • Ability to work flexible hours including nights, weekends, holidays, and extended travel.

Responsibilities

  • Provide therapeutic massage treatments to athletes before and after practices, games, travel, and training sessions.
  • Perform sports massage, deep tissue massage, myofascial release, trigger point therapy, and other manual therapy techniques as appropriate.
  • Assist in athlete recovery strategies designed to improve readiness, reduce fatigue, and enhance overall performance.
  • Help identify soft tissue restrictions and collaborate with medical and performance staff on treatment plans.
  • Maintain detailed treatment notes and communicate relevant observations to the athletic training and medical staff.
  • Collaborate with athletic trainers, physical therapists, strength and conditioning coaches, and sports medicine personnel to support player health and performance initiatives.
  • Contribute to recovery protocols and individualized player care plans.
  • Assist with injury prevention and return-to-play support programs under the direction of the medical and performance staff.
  • Support team wellness initiatives and player education regarding recovery and self-care techniques.
  • Travel with the team for all road games, training camps, and team-related events.
  • Provide treatment services during travel and at team facilities, hotels, practice sites, and game venues.
  • Maintain flexibility to accommodate player schedules and treatment needs throughout the season.
  • Maintain treatment equipment, supplies, and massage therapy areas.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable state licensing requirements, professional standards, and organizational policies.
  • Uphold strict confidentiality regarding player health information.

Job description

The Dallas Mavericks are looking for a Massage Therapist. This role will be key to the Player Health & Performance team and is responsible for providing therapeutic massage and soft tissue treatments to support player recovery, wellness, injury prevention, and performance optimization. This position travels full-time with the team and works flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.

  • Exceptional professionalism, discretion, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, holidays, and extended travel periods.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Texas Licensed Massage Therapist (LMT) credential.
  • Experience working in professional sports, Olympic sports, or NCAA Division I athletics.
  • Additional certifications in myofascial release, Active Release Techniques (ART), cupping, instrument-assisted soft tissue mobilization (IASTM), or related modalities.
  • Experience working within an integrated sports medicine and performance environment.
  • CPR/AED certification.
