Qualifications

Trinty Health Ann Arbor - Inspirit Salon

Work with Inspirit Salon & Spa manager to develop therapeutic massage services. Provide massage therapy, advanced massage therapy, education and related services to clients from infant to adult. Develop appropriate treatment plans.

REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND CERTIFICATION/LICENSURE

  • Certification as Massage Therapist according to the National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork (NCBTMB). If not Nationally Certified, therapist must obtain National Certification within 6 months of hire.

  • Certified in CPR

  • Prior training/experience providing therapeutic services in an Oncology setting is preferred.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Interpersonal skills necessary to effectively interact with physicians, patients and families when providing therapy and exchanging patient progress and condition information.

  • Analytical skills necessary to observe patients condition and report to the physical therapist.

  • Ability to concentrate and pay close attention to detail when administering treatment, observing patients and/or staff.

  • Able to react quickly in sudden unplanned situation sin order to prevent or minimize injuries to patients and/or staff.

  • Able to walk and stand for up to 50% of work time while administering treatments.

  • Able to lift, push and pull with effective forces of approximately 40-60 pounds for positioning and moving patients.

  • Able to communicate effectively with patients, patient facilities and other Health System personnel.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Be on time for your shift, prompt with each appointment and perform services within the appropriate time allotted for the service. Has an understanding of timeliness and stays on schedule to avoid keeping clients having to wait.

Provide accurate, appropriate and immediate responses to all requests by guests ensuring complete guest satisfaction. Ensures that customer service is the highest priority and our customers receive the highest standards of service.

Completes all paperwork, assessments and treatment planning for the patients in a complete and timely manner. Verifies and updates client/patient information.

Works closely with the team in developing interdisciplinary care plans, comprehensive assessments and evaluations that identify appropriate service lines and energy healing practices for individual patients.

Provides educational programs, workshops, and in-services for staff of St. Joe’s on the nature of massage therapy as well as other modalities, its uses, appropriate referrals, and expected outcomes.

Assists in developing massage therapy programs that may be utilized onsite as well as community based. Integrates and expands the use and understanding of complementary therapy in the inpatient and outpatient setting.

Assists in gathering ongoing evidence of the benefits and efficacy of massage therapy and other complementary therapies to secure professional credibility and validity.

Meets the increasingly urgent need to demonstrate that the intervention offered is both effective and efficient in a competitive market.

Maintains knowledge of and assists in ensuring compliance with accreditation, certification and government standards relative to message therapy.

Designs and implements plans and procedures to enhance quality, effectiveness and efficiency of the department.

Assists in helping with laundry duties.

Goes up to the patient floors as needed to provide massage services in room with physician approval.

Ensures and upholds the professional dress code to the standards of the hospital.

Be flexible with your schedule, supporting the needs of the spa. This includes working weekends and holidays if needed to accommodate client demand.

Learns the Millenium scheduling system and front desk duties to be able to help clients and fill in as back up when needed for receptionist duties.

Coordinates and communicates with other team members on individual client cases that are challenging.

Actively promote Inspirit services, retail, as well as programs, promotions, and/or discounts available for massage, salon, and cancer support services.

Regularly attend, participate in and support training and staff meetings for Inspirit.

Possess ability to work without direct supervision.

Communicate to management any and all occurrences involving staff, patients, clients, and guests at Inspirit that require attention.

Performs massage using equipment, sheets, towels and lotions and monitoring related supplies.

OTHER FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Performs other duties as assigned.
