Job Summary

K&L Gates is seeking a mid‑level associate to join its nationally recognized Mass Tort and Product Liability practice in Pittsburgh, Newark, or Charleston. This role involves working on high‑profile, complex litigation matters as part of a collaborative, multi‑office team.

Responsibilities

• Managing fact and expert discovery, including taking depositions.
• Drafting and arguing substantive motions.
• Developing and executing causation defenses, and working effectively with expert witnesses.
• Managing a diverse portfolio of matters spanning multiple jurisdictions, including mass torts, product liability, asbestos claims, complex commercial disputes, multidistrict litigation, and class actions.

Qualifications

Qualified candidates must hold a J.D. from an accredited law school and be admitted to practice in the applicable jurisdiction. Candidates should have 3–5 years of experience in mass tort and product liability litigation, including substantive defense of asbestos claims, and preferably experience with complex commercial disputes, multidistrict litigation, and class actions in state and federal courts.

Base Compensation

$215,000 – $290,000 per year, to be determined during the interview process based on experience, expertise, and market factors.
