Job summary

The Salk Institute Mass Spectrometry Core invites a Research Assistant to execute LC-MS sample preparation, instrument operation, and data processing for metabolomics and proteomics analyses.

You will maintain LC-MS equipment, assist in data processing, and contribute to collaborative projects while following safety protocols and quality standards. A Bachelor’s degree and LC-MS experience are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in relevant field or equivalent.
• Experience in LC-MS sample prep and/or instrument operation.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate with researchers.
• Strong organization and time-management in fast-paced labs.

Responsibilities

• Sample preparation: safely prepare samples for LC-MS metabolomics and proteomics analysis.
• Maintain and operate LC-MS equipment, ensuring optimal performance and safety standards.
• Data processing: use metabolomics/proteomics software to process LC-MS data.
• Participate in project discussions and weekly Core meetings.
• Assist in troubleshooting technical issues and routine maintenance on equipment.
• Maintain accurate records of experiments and instrument usage.
• Perform other related duties as assigned by management.
