Job description

Adjuncts are essential to Liberty University’s mission of TrainingChampions for Christ. It is expected that an adjunct membermodels a personal commitment to the goals and values of LibertyUniversity, engage in an active commitment to, and experienceof, personal spiritual formation within a biblically informedChristian worldview. Adjuncts should view their teaching,engagement with students, and scholarship as a means to asignificant educational end. They should strive to employ avariety of techniques for the development of good learningconditions, view each student as a unique individual, and insofaras it is possible, provide for individual differences,abilities, and interests.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Classroom instruction/management Lab instruction/ management. Beable to perform and supervise trade-related work. Maintain a safeworking environment. Work with classroom-related technology i.e.Canvas, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint … Strictly adheres to LibertyUniversity policies, representing the University in an exemplarymanner. Works effectively as a team member, embracing and fosteringLU’s Christian model and Mission – Training Champions forChrist.

Education and Experience

The Technical Studies Instructor must have a minimum of four yearsof field experience as a Mason. Applicant’s resume must demonstratethis experience and should reflect both residential and commercialwork. Instructors will need to provide industry-recognized licensesor certifications. It is preferred that the instructor holds adegree and/or licenses or certificates related to their field andany combination thereof.

Communication and Comprehension
  • Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writingto convey clear, well-articulated information.
  • Ability to understand, speak, and write English in order toconvey messages and correspond in an articulate and professionalmanner.
  • Possess public communication skills that allow professionalrepresentation of Liberty University.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Computer skills.
Problem Solving
  • Intuitively able to reason, analyze information and events, andapply judgment to solve problems of both a routine and complexnature.
Physical and Sensory Abilities
  • May be required to travel
  • May be required to sit to perform deskwork or type on a keyboard.
  • Regularly required to hear and speak to effectively communicateorally.
  • Regularly required to stand, walk, and climb stairs to moveabout the campus.
  • Handle materials, reach overhead, kneel or stoop in order toconduct business.
  • Regularly lift 10 or fewer pounds. However, must be able tolift 50 pounds.
  • Regularly required to perform work related to the trade.

Work Environment

This position will require the employee to work in a settingsimilar to fieldwork. This can include working in uncontrolledclimates, loud work areas, and hazardous conditions.
