William Vaughan Company is assisting in the search for a Concrete Finisher for a General Contractor based in Holland, OH. The role involves smoothing and finishing concrete surfaces on construction projects from start to finish, with a focus on quality and efficiency.

The candidate will perform exterior and interior finishing, supervision of workers, and coordination with truck drivers and other trades to ensure timely completion while maintaining safety and compliance with specifications.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience with concrete applications such as curbs, sidewalks, slabs, and decorative concrete.
• Strong ability to place and finish concrete to spec and grade.
• Ability to supervise and train other workers on site.

Responsibilities

• Assist with ordering concrete and materials as needed.
• Finish exterior and interior concrete surfaces using screeding, bull-floating, Darby, and hand tools.
• Signal trucks, manage placement, and ensure proper curing conditions.
• Read and interpret plans to set forms and ensure correct depth and pitch.
• Coordinate with other trades to maintain schedule and safety.
• Monitor weather effects on curing and apply cold-weather best practices.

William Vaughan Company is helping in the search for a Concrete Finisher for a General Contractor based in Holland, OH. They are seeking a skilled individual to join their team. As the Concrete Finisher, you will play a crucial role in smoothing and finishing concrete surfaces to complete construction projects from start to finish. Role

• Assistance with ordering concrete when needed
• Basic understanding of concrete additives: Understanding the benefits; Do’s and Don’ts
• Placing Concrete: Signaling truck drivers, moving chutes for concrete placement, electronic buggying
• Exterior Concrete Finishing: screeding, bull-floating, darby, joint tooling, edge tooling, broom finishing, contraction joint sawcutting.
• Interior Concrete Finishing: hand screeding, understanding laser screed placement processes, understand concrete pumping process, hand troweling, walk-behind machine troweling
• Placing forms to the correct line and grade to ensure the required depth and pitch is achieved
• Monitoring the effect heat, wind and cold have on curing concrete to ensure high-quality results
• Understanding the affects of cold-weather concrete placement: The Do’s & Don’ts
• Installing anchor bolts, steel plates, and grouting base plates
• Polishing surfaces using smoothing materials, abrasive tools and surfacing machines
• Aligning forms for sidewalks, curbs and gutters, including ADA Ramps
• Compacting materials using plates tamps
• Applying hardening and sealing compounds to cure the surface of concrete
• Supervising and training workers to help shore up the team
• Items that are a plus:
• Ability to layout and picture frame edging on sidewalks
• Decorative Concrete Experience
• Ability to Operate Ride on Power Trowel
• Ability to Operate Laser Screed
• Ability to read plans and think critically with such information in the field
• Ability to form, brace, place, strip, finish, and rub concrete foundations

Requirements

• A minimum of 3 years of experience working with concrete.
• Demonstrated expertise and proficiency in various concrete applications, including but not limited to: curbs, sidewalks, ADA curb ramps, approaches, concrete pavement, large building slab pours, elevated slab pours, stamped/decorative concrete, and more.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
• Engages in efficient time management to ensure tasks are prioritized based on importance and urgency.
