Job summary

William Vaughan Company is seeking a skilled Concrete Finisher to join their Holland, OH team. You will smooth and finish concrete surfaces for various construction projects, ensuring alignment with planned depths and grades.

Responsibilities include placing and finishing concrete, screeding, troweling, edge tooling, reading plans, supervising workers, and coordinating with truck drivers. Experience with decorative concrete and laser screed is a plus.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of experience with concrete.
• Proficiency in curbs, sidewalks, ramps, slabs, and decorative concrete.
• Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration.
• Ability to read plans and think critically on site.
• Knowledge of cold-weather placement Do's & Don'ts.

Responsibilities

• Assist with ordering concrete.
• Place concrete: signaling truck drivers, moving chutes, electronic buggying.
• Exterior finishing: screeding, bull-floating, darby, joint tooling, edge tooling, broom finishing.
• Interior finishing: hand screeding, laser screed placement processes, hand troweling, machine troweling.
• Set forms to line and grade, monitor curing conditions, install anchor bolts and grouting base plates.
• Polish surfaces with smoothing materials and surfacing machines.
• Align forms for sidewalks, curbs and ADA ramps; perform tamping and compaction.
• Supervise and train workers.

William Vaughan Company is helping in the search for a Concrete Finisher for a General Contractor based in Holland, OH. They are seeking a skilled individual to join their team. As the Concrete Finisher, you will play a crucial role in smoothing and finishing concrete surfaces to complete construction projects from start to finish. If you have a strong background in concrete construction and a commitment to delivering high-quality results, we want to hear from you!

Role

• Assistance with ordering concrete when needed
• Basic understanding of concrete additives: Understanding the benefits; Do’s and Don’ts
• Placing Concrete: Signaling truck drivers, moving chutes for concrete placement, electronic buggying
• Exterior Concrete Finishing: screeding, bull-floating, darby, joint tooling, edge tooling, broom finishing, contraction joint sawcutting.
• Interior Concrete Finishing: hand screeding, understanding laser screed placement processes, understand concrete pumping process, hand troweling, walk-behind machine troweling
• Placing forms to the correct line and grade to ensure the required depth and pitch is achieved
• Monitoring the effect heat, wind and cold have on curing concrete to ensure high-quality results
• Understanding the affects of cold-weather concrete placement: The Do’s & Don’ts
• Installing anchor bolts, steel plates, and grouting base plates
• Polishing surfaces using smoothing materials, abrasive tools and surfacing machines
• Aligning forms for sidewalks, curbs and gutters, including ADA Ramps
• Compacting materials using plates tamps
• Applying hardening and sealing compounds to cure the surface of concrete
• Supervising and training workers to help shore up the team
• Items that are a plus:
  • Ability to layout and picture frame edging on sidewalks
  • Decorative Concrete Experience
  • Ability to Operate Ride on Power Trowel
  • Ability to Operate Laser Screed
  • Ability to read plans and think critically with such information in the field
  • Ability to form, brace, place, strip, finish, and rub concrete foundations

Requirements

• A minimum of 3 years of experience working with concrete.
• Demonstrated expertise and proficiency in various concrete applications, including but not limited to: curbs, sidewalks, ADA curb ramps, approaches, concrete pavement, large building slab pours, elevated slab pours, stamped/decorative concrete, and more.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
• Engages in efficient time management to ensure tasks are prioritized based on importance and urgency.
