Job summary

Carolina's Mexican Food - Peoria is seeking an experienced Prep Cook to join our team in Peoria, IL. You will prepare and cook a variety of dishes for restaurant guests and maintain a clean masa room with organized prep projects.

Ideal candidates have masa dough experience, strong knife skills, and a ServeSafe or Food Handler’s certification. You will track waste and communicate concerns to management while supporting a friendly, efficient kitchen staff.

Qualifications

• Previous experience as a prep cook preferred.
• Ability to work various kitchen positions.
• Food Handler’s certification (or must be willing to attain)
• Ability to lift up to 60lbs
• Ability to work standing for 8+ hours

Responsibilities

• Inspect and clean masa preparation areas, such as equipment and work surfaces or serving areas to ensure safe and sanitary food-handling practices
• Ensure freshness of food and ingredients through effective rotation and labeling of trays of masa.
• Ability to lift up to 60lbs.
• Operate and clean machine carefully and safely.
• Communicate with the incoming shift as to what prep items need to be completed/prioritized
