The Registered Nurse (Hospital-Based) is a competent professional responsible for delivering nursing care to patients of varying age groups by utilizing the nursing process and practice standards. The role involves:

• Applying nursing practice competencies to ensure safe, patient- and family-centered care and health outcomes;

Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive assessments from admission to discharge, ensuring safety and addressing all aspects of the individual and family needs;
• Administer medications and assess effects in accordance with licensure and safety guidelines;
• Plan and evaluate patient care collaboratively using current knowledge and standards;
• Identify and prioritize patient problems, implement interventions, and evaluate outcomes;
• Advocate for patients, ensuring rights and preparing for discharge;
• Collaborate with healthcare team and supervise unlicensed assistive personnel.

Additional Expectations

• Maintain professional conduct, orient new staff, and supervise students;
• Act as relief charge nurse as needed;
• Engage in continuing education and evidence-based practices;
• Participate in team communication and conflict resolution;
• Use hospital resources efficiently and comply with policies and confidentiality requirements.

Shift Requirements

Typical shifts are 8-12 hours, with flexibility depending on departmental needs. Overtime may be required occasionally.
