You will manage editors and writers, sharpen sourcing, and push for analytical context. A strong track record in business journalism and talent development is essential for this role.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience in business journalism.
  • Command of the dynamics of financial markets.
  • Experience as a story editor, or strong writing skills if you haven’t edited before.
  • Ability to cultivate talent and help reporters achieve their potential.
  • Ability to analyze data quickly and tell complicated stories in creative ways.

Responsibilities

  • Drive the Journal’s coverage of markets news, managing a team of reporters at a high level.
  • Develop ambitious feature story ideas with reporters and collaborate with newsroom stakeholders to orchestrate their publication.
  • Line edit stories with the help of a deputy editor.
  • Work with reporters to cultivate sources across the investing world, including traders and fund managers.
  • Guide reporters to contribute incisive posts for WSJ Live Markets, our widely-read platform for real-time markets coverage and analysis.
  • Collaborate with product and tech teams to develop products that put WSJ markets coverage on the map with a wider audience.
