Job summary

The Wall Street Journal seeks an ambitious Editor, Markets based in New York to lead coverage of financial markets, guide a team of reporters, and shape daily and feature stories with depth and pace. You’ll supervise editing, develop high-impact investigations, and collaborate across desks to engage a broad audience.

We value data storytelling, visual storytelling, and a strong track record in business journalism, with a focus on market dynamics and investor behavior.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 10 years in business journalism and understanding of financial markets.
  • Experience as a story editor or strong writing skills if editing experience is not present.
  • Desire to cultivate talent and help reporters reach their potential.
  • Ability to analyze data quickly and tell complex stories creatively.

Responsibilities

  • Drive the Journal’s markets coverage, leading a team of reporters at a high level.
  • Develop ambitious feature ideas with reporters and coordinate publication with stakeholders.
  • Line edit stories with input from the deputy editor.
  • Cultivate sources across investing, including traders and fund managers.
  • Guide reporters to contribute insights for WSJ Live Markets and related platforms.
  • Collaborate with product and tech teams to broaden markets coverage to a wider audience.
