Cooley LLP seeks a Marketing Specialist – Life Sciences to join the Marketing & Client Development team in San Diego, CA. The role acts as a strategic consultant, translating objectives into effective marketing and client development plans for the Life Sciences BU.

The incumbent will maintain collateral, ensure CRM data quality, coordinate marketing materials for events, and generate activity reports. A Bachelors degree and 3+ years in life sciences marketing are preferred.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience in marketing or business development.
• Life sciences industry experience required.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and iManage or similar firm applications.
• Available to work overtime as required.

Responsibilities

• Collateral Maintenance: update practice descriptions, brochures, and digital bios.
• CRM Data Hygiene: maintain accuracy of practice-specific contact lists and segmentation.
• Logistical Material Support: coordinate marketing kits and attendee materials for events.
• Standard Activity Reporting: pull reports on activity, pitch volume, and pipeline status.
• Matter Experience Entry: input matter details into the firms experience database.
• Sponsorship Tracking: track BU sponsorships, deadlines, and deliverables.
• Digital Profile Coordination: update partner bios and external directory profiles.
• Administrative Project Support: assist large BU projects, e.g., Chambers submission data collection.
• All other duties as assigned.

Marketing Specialist – Life Sciences Cooley is seeking a Marketing Specialist – Life Sciences to join the Marketing and Client Development team.

Position summary

This role is part of the Business Unit Marketing Team, which acts as the strategic consultant to, and primary bridge between, practice group leadership and the broader Marketing & Client Development organization. This team translates commercial objectives and competitive insight into marketing and client development plans. They work across Marketing & Client Development to activate these plans, offering the appropriate level of strategic and tactical support tailored to the needs of each business unit.

Position responsibilities

• Collateral Maintenance: Provide ongoing updates and maintenance for practice descriptions, brochures, and digital bios to ensure "Always Ready" availability.
• CRM Data Hygiene: Maintain the integrity of practice‑specific contact lists and relationship data within the CRM, ensuring accurate segmentation for campaign enablers.
• Logistical Material Support: Coordinate the assembly and distribution of standard marketing kits and attendee materials for practice‑led events and initiatives.
• Standard Activity Reporting: Pull recurring reports from firm technologies to track practice group activities, pitch volume, and pipeline status for BU leadership.
• Matter Experience Entry: Support the practice by inputting matter details and credentials into the firm’s experience database.
• Sponsorship Tracking: Maintain the tracker for all BU‑specific sponsorships, deadlines, and required deliverables to ensure all benefits are realized.
• Digital Profile Coordination: Liaise with attorneys to facilitate regular updates to partner biographies and external legal directory profiles.
• Administrative Project Support: Provide tactical support for large‑scale BU projects, such as the data collection phase of the Chambers submission process.
• All other duties as assigned or required.

Skills and experience

• Required: After orientation at Cooley LLP, exhibit proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite, iManage and other firm applications Available to work overtime, as required 3+ years applicable experience in the field (e.g., marketing or business development) Prior professional services industry experience and/or B2B marketing experience Must have demonstrated industry experience in life sciences.

Pay

The expected hourly pay range for this position with a work schedule of 40 hours per week is $33.00 - $48.00 ($68,640.00 - $99,840.00 annually). Please note that final offer amount will be dependent on geographic location, applicable experience and skillset of the candidate.
