General Information:
Hitachi Energy is looking for a Marketing Proposal Engineer to join our Marketing and Sales tendering team for the Distribution transformers at hybrid/remote US Hitachi Energy locations pending experience (Bland VA, South Boston VA, Raleigh NC). This role is responsible for creating, completing bids/estimations/quotations based on customer RFQs or requirements, and submitting competitive bids to achieve both market competitiveness and desired margins for the Company. As a Marketing Proposal Engineer, you will lead techno-commercial bid preparation by coordinating with internal stakeholders, submitting & negotiating the bids with the front-end sales team, and booking the order in SAP after receipt of purchase orders.
Your Responsibilities:
- Review opportunities and RFQ requests from the Sales Force database.
- Maintain Salesforce database for individual quotes and opportunities as per defined process.
- Lead and coordinate all activities related to creation and completion of bids/estimations/quotations based on customer RFQ/specifications or customer requirements/budget requests.
- Prepare proposals using Nextra, standard templates, and integrate customer fill-in data and internal standard quotation documents.
- Review T&C’s, finalize the same for submission by coordinating with internal contract/legal team.
- Read technical specifications, prepare Nextra BOM, costing, and define pricing following full cost models and internal guidelines.
- Request a design for the bid from engineering when needed.
- Lead and conduct risk reviews at local, Hub, or company level.
- Arrange necessary prerequisites for the bid submission like insurance certificates, bid bonds, etc.
- Prepare full cost model and obtain approvals per the table of authority.
- Prepare final pricing and packaging of all costs and data.
- Ensure bids are well documented and submitted in a timely manner with appropriate detail and accuracy.
- Work in close collaboration with different sales channels (users, service groups, reps, distributors, and front-end sales) & support bid negotiations to close the bid.
- Follow up with the sales representative to obtain feedback on submitted bids, to keep track of potential order pipeline based on quoted bids, probability to win, and estimated award dates.
- Work towards achieving bowler targets assigned to the tendering team.
- Respond to customer questions in collaboration with sales representatives and coordinate with engineering and operations to seek necessary inputs.
- Review purchase orders and other documents when a bid is awarded. Ensure that the purchase order aligns with the offered scope of supply and offer. Accept purchase order following the table of authority.
- Book orders into SAP following internal process and conduct handover meeting/review to transfer order to the customer success/project management team.

Your Background:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering and a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience within the transformer business, especially in tendering and bidding function.
- Relevant experience from tendering &/or marketing, engineering, project management, or other similar roles within the transformers industry.
- Experience and product knowledge of dry distribution (Cast-Cast/Cast-Resin/others) and/or liquid filled distribution transformers.
- Candidate must already have work authorization that would permit them to work for Hitachi Energy in the United States.
- Experience with SalesForce.Com, Microsoft Office tools, Power BI.
- Ability to manage and understand transformer technical specifications and commercial requirements.
- Excellent communication skills (written & verbal).
- Ability to manage relationships with front-end sales and customer contacts. Exceptional analytical skills, relationship management qualities, and leadership abilities.
- Requires the ability to work within a matrix organization and team leadership.
