Marketing Manager, Audience (Lifestyle & Entertainment)


Reports To: Director, Audience Acquisition




  • Location: Remote. This is a full-time position offering a competitive salary, healthcare, and a benefits package.




  • Compensation: $80K-$85K





This is an exciting opportunity to support marketing initiatives McClatchy Media Company's Lifestyle and Entertainment brands. You will be contributing to audience growth and cultivating relationships with our readers. The ideal candidate has experience executing digital marketing strategies to create engaging touchpoints at a major media brand or publisher. You should understand audience intent, behaviors, and interest to capture their attention to drive conversions. Our team embraces data-driven decision-making, automation and testing. This is a fast-paced environment with a special focus on managing the day-to-day details that drive results. The ideal candidate is a highly organized professional with a background in email and digital marketing.



Email Marketing:




  • Lead the development of new lifecycle journeys to grow our digital subscribers, collaborating with consumer revenue teams.




  • Execution of consumer revenue marketing campaigns & journeys including set up, upkeep and ongoing optimization of email marketing (copywriting, coding and designing); creating/segmenting lists; scheduling, setting up A/B tests, QA, and reporting.




  • Design and conduct A/B testing. Track effectiveness at driving results to increase open rates and clicks within newsletters. Identify optimizations of newsletter templates to increase conversion and traffic.




  • Regularly analyze newsletter metrics to understand audience behavior and performance. Translate insights to identify experiments and best practices.




  • Integrate industry best practices to ensure optimal email results, improved deliverability, and compliance around permission-based marketing, privacy, and spam regulation (CAN/SPAM/CCPA).




Engagement Marketing:




  • Develop marketing campaigns to target site visitors, aligning with their behaviors to support growing email subscribers, affiliate (commerce) marketing, and other business initiatives. Use Blue Conic to identify segments, conduct A/B testing and measure campaigns. Oversee the creation and deployment of creative assets.




  • Utilize user data and subscriber behaviors to create targeted strategies for the Lifestyle & Entertainment brands. Identify opportunities for personalization, new touch points and further optimization of existing flows.




Qualifications:




  • Minimum of 3-5 years experience using CRM and email marketing tools (i.e., Sailthru). Knowledge of CDP platforms (Blue Conic, Amplitude) to create audience segments for marketing. Technically proficient (HTML, CSS) and able to use code to build products within CRM and CDP tools.




  • Strong analytical and data-driven mindset with experience using analytics tools such as Google Analytics, Chartbeat and Looker. Aptitude for integrating AI into your workflows.




  • Proven experience in segmentation and audience targeting, analyzing large sets of user data and the ability to turn findings into actionable insights.




  • Ability to work collaboratively across cross-functional teams and manage multiple priorities.




  • Strong understanding of digital marketing principles and marketing technology




  • Excellent copywriting and proofreading skills to create compelling value-positioned messaging, ensuring alignment with brand standards and messaging consistency.
