Marketing Manager, Audience (Lifestyle & Entertainment)

Reports To: Director, Audience Acquisition

  • Location: Remote. This is a full-time position offering a competitive salary, healthcare, and a benefits package.
  • Compensation: $80K-$85K

This is an exciting opportunity to support marketing initiatives for McClatchy Media Company’s Lifestyle and Entertainment brands. You will contribute to audience growth and cultivate relationships with our readers. The ideal candidate has experience executing digital marketing strategies to create engaging touchpoints at a major media brand or publisher. You should understand audience intent, behaviors, and interests to capture attention and drive conversions. Our team embraces data-driven decision-making, automation, and testing. This is a fast-paced environment focused on managing day-to-day details that drive results. The ideal candidate is highly organized with a background in email and digital marketing.

Email Marketing
  • Lead the development of new lifecycle journeys to grow our digital subscribers, collaborating with consumer revenue teams.
  • Execute consumer revenue marketing campaigns & journeys, including setup, upkeep, and ongoing optimization of email marketing (copywriting, coding, designing); creating/segmenting lists; scheduling, A/B testing, QA, and reporting.
  • Design and conduct A/B testing. Track effectiveness to increase open rates and clicks. Optimize newsletter templates to boost conversion and traffic.
  • Analyze newsletter metrics to understand audience behavior and performance. Use insights to identify experiments and best practices.
  • Ensure industry best practices for email results, deliverability, and compliance with permission-based marketing, privacy, and spam regulations (CAN-SPAM, CCPA).
Engagement Marketing
  • Develop campaigns targeting site visitors, aligning with their behaviors to support growing email subscribers, affiliate marketing, and other initiatives. Use Blue Conic for segmentation, A/B testing, and measurement. Oversee creative asset creation and deployment.
  • Use user data and subscriber behaviors to craft targeted strategies for the Lifestyle & Entertainment brands. Identify opportunities for personalization, new touchpoints, and optimizing existing flows.
Qualifications
  • 3-5+ years experience with CRM and email marketing tools (e.g., Sailthru). Knowledge of CDP platforms (Blue Conic, Amplitude) for audience segmentation. Proficient in HTML, CSS, and coding within CRM/CDP tools.
  • Strong analytical skills with experience using tools like Google Analytics, Chartbeat, and Looker. Ability to integrate AI into workflows.
  • Proven expertise in segmentation, audience targeting, and analyzing large user data sets to derive actionable insights.
  • Ability to collaborate across teams and manage multiple priorities.
  • Solid understanding of digital marketing principles and technology.
  • Excellent copywriting and proofreading skills, ensuring messaging aligns with brand standards and maintains consistency.
