Job description

Marketing Leader (Performance Marketing Focus)

This role is built for a performance-driven operator who knows how to scale consumer-direct businesses. As Marketing Leader, you will take the CEO’s vision and translate it into measurable, high-impact growth across all channels. This is not just an execution role. You will own performance.

You bring a repeatable playbook for building and scaling consumer brands and have done it more than once. You understand how paid media, lifecycle marketing, creative, and product work together as a single growth engine, and you know how to pull each lever to drive efficient, compounding results.

You will work across performance marketing, creative, cross-sell and upsell, direct Mail, and email to drive full-funnel growth. Success in this role requires operating effectively in a highly matrixed environment, influencing across teams, and ensuring every initiative ties back to clear business outcomes.

Rate is already the leader in home purchase mortgages. The company is building toward leadership in HELOC, scaling a top-30 insurance brokerage, and growing the Rate app from 500K to 10M+ users. This role plays a central part in that growth.

Responsibilities
  • Own performance marketing strategy and execution across paid media, lifecycle channels (email, push), direct mail, and emerging channels
  • Translate company vision into scalable, ROI-driven growth plans across acquisition, engagement, and monetization
  • Drive full-funnel performance from acquisition through cross-sell, upsell, and retention
  • Partner closely with creative teams to develop, test, and iterate high-performing concepts and messaging
  • Work with cross-sell and upsell teams to maximize lifetime value and products per customer
  • Lead coordination across marketing, product, sales, and analytics to ensure aligned execution
  • Establish structured testing frameworks across creative, channel, audience, and offer, and scale what works
  • Build and maintain clear visibility into campaign performance, budgets, forecasts, and results
  • Identify growth opportunities across mortgage, HELOC, insurance, and app ecosystems
  • Drive operational rigor across workflows, timelines, and cross-functional collaboration
  • Act as a force multiplier by removing friction, accelerating execution, and raising performance standards
KPI Ownership
  • Acquisition and Growth: app downloads, new users, CAC/CPA, channel efficiency
  • Retention: 30/60/90-day retention, churn, cohort performance
  • Revenue: total revenue, ARPU, contribution from non-mortgage products
  • Cross-Sell and Upsell: cross-sell rate, products per customer, multi-product conversion
  • Unit Economics: LTV/CAC, payback period, marginal CAC by channel
  • Lifecycle Performance: email and direct mail conversion rates, open and click rates, reactivation
  • Creative Performance: CTR, CVR, creative-level ROI, fatigue indicators
  • Product Adoption: engagement with key app features, including AI-driven experiences
Requirements
  • 8+ years of experience in performance marketing, growth, or consumer marketing leadership roles
  • Proven track record of building and scaling consumer-direct brands
  • Deep expertise in paid acquisition (search, social, display), lifecycle marketing (email, SMS, push), and offline channels such as direct mail
  • Strong understanding of full-funnel economics including CAC, LTV, payback periods, and attribution
  • Experience driving cross-sell and upsell across multiple product lines
  • Ability to lead and influence in a matrixed organization without direct authority
  • Data-driven mindset with strong analytical skills and a focus on testing and iteration
  • Strong partnership with creative teams and a clear perspective on what drives performance
  • High level of execution with strong attention to detail and speed
  • Comfortable operating in a fast-paced, high-growth environment with ambitious targets
