Job description

Our client, a global commercial finance company serving small and medium‑sized businesses across multiple divisions — spanning lending, risk mitigation, and financial technology — is seeking a Director of Marketing to lead their full marketing function. This is a strategic, hands‑on leadership role responsible for building and executing marketing across brand, demand generation, product marketing, content, digital, events, and business development support. The ideal candidate brings strong B2B marketing experience, a builder mindset, practical AI fluency, and the ability to operate both strategically and tactically in a lean, entrepreneurial environment. This role reports directly to the CEO and is based in New York City on a hybrid schedule.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute a company-wide marketing strategy aligned with growth objectives and division‑specific priorities across three distinct business units.
  • Lead the full marketing function spanning brand positioning, demand generation, product marketing, content, digital, events, marketing operations, and business development support.
  • Partner with senior leadership and business development teams to drive market visibility, client engagement, and revenue growth.
  • Establish marketing priorities, processes, reporting structures, and future team needs within a fast‑moving, resource‑conscious environment.
  • Manage a small team of direct reports and external vendors, agencies, designers, and marketing technology providers.

Demand Generation & Revenue Marketing:

  • Build and execute account‑based marketing programs targeting priority prospects, referral sources, lending partners, brokers, and strategic accounts.
  • Develop a measurable demand generation strategy that supports pipeline creation, account engagement, and revenue influence.
  • Oversee the full lead‑to‑close marketing flow, including marketing technology, campaign tracking, lead management, and sales handoff.
  • Use data and analytics to assess campaign performance and continuously improve marketing effectiveness.

Product Marketing & Business Development Support:

  • Establish product marketing capabilities across all three business divisions, translating complex financial and technology solutions into clear, compelling messaging.
  • Develop and maintain sales collateral, pitch materials, presentations, case studies, one‑pagers, product sheets, and client‑facing content.
  • Support cross‑selling initiatives and help articulate the full value of the company's platform to clients and prospects.

AI-Enabled Marketing & Innovation:

  • Identify and implement practical AI use cases to improve marketing efficiency across content development, campaign execution, research, reporting, and sales enablement.
  • Apply AI‑powered tools in a business‑relevant context while maintaining quality, accuracy, and brand consistency.
  • Evaluate opportunities to enhance marketing workflows, automation, segmentation, and reporting through emerging technology.

Content, Digital, Events & Communications:

  • Manage content across the website, email campaigns, social media, case studies, thought leadership, and client communications.
  • Plan and oversee events, webinars, conferences, sponsorships, and client engagement opportunities.
  • Support public relations, company announcements, award submissions, and external communications.
  • Partner with HR on employer branding and recruitment‑related marketing materials.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, business, or a related field.
  • 7+ years of relevant marketing, communications, or business development experience, preferably in commercial finance, financial services, fintech, professional services, lending, insurance, or a related B2B environment.
  • Strong writing, editing, and messaging skills with the ability to translate complex financial or technical subject matter into clear, accessible content.
  • Proven experience developing marketing campaigns, sales collateral, email campaigns, social media content, presentations, and client‑facing materials.
  • Familiarity with digital marketing tools, Google Analytics, email marketing platforms, CRM systems, and social media management.
  • Comfortable operating in a hands‑on capacity while contributing to broader strategic direction — must be able to work at both the strategic and executional level.
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to juggle multiple priorities, deadlines, and stakeholders simultaneously.
  • Experience with Adobe Creative Suite, InDesign, Canva, or similar design tools is preferred.
  • Experience supporting events, conferences, webinars, or trade shows is preferred.
  • Financial services, commercial lending, asset‑based lending, trade credit insurance, factoring, or fintech background is a strong plus.

Compensation and Benefits:

  • Comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, and vision coverage
  • Opportunities for career growth and development
