Job description

Marketing Designer, Creative Services, PRH Christian Division (Open to Remote)

Penguin Random House Christian Publishing Division is seeking a Graphic Designer to join our Advertising and Creative Operations department. This position requires strong organizational and time management skills, and the ability to work on a variety of projects in an intense and fast-paced environment. The Designer will be responsible for managing simultaneous projects to support marketing efforts across web, social, and email platforms, including motion graphics. The individual will produce great design in print, motion, and promotional items, focusing on WaterBrook, Multnomah, Image, Ink & Willow, and Forum imprints. This is an excellent opportunity to join an innovative, integrated department and work with renowned titles published by these imprints.

Our Christian publishing program aims to create books that inspire readers to find spiritual purpose and deepen their relationship with God. We seek a creative, collaborative, and enthusiastic designer interested in Christian books to join our team. The Designer will actively create and execute customized campaigns for approximately 80 Christian-focused books annually, spanning Christian Living, Fiction, Young Readers, and 4-color product lines including children’s books and gift items. This role reports to the Creative Director.

The Role:

  • Work closely with Marketers to refine designs, incorporate feedback, and route work to internal departments, maintaining a positive attitude in a deadline-driven environment.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to clarify project details and create effective work.
  • Manage projects using our project management software, and communicate on project threads as needed.
  • Traffic creative: prepare and release files to stakeholders, and send projects to print.
  • Partner with the Creative Services team to stay current on art, design, and publishing trends, and contribute new ideas to keep our output relevant and timely.

The Essentials:

  • 3-5 years of experience as a staff designer in advertising preferred; trade publishing marketing experience is a plus but not required.
  • Strong interest and familiarity with the Christian Book space are required for success.
  • A passion for design and typography, demonstrated by your portfolio.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, and Microsoft Office; working knowledge of Adobe After Effects, Audition, and Premiere, with the willingness to learn new systems.
  • Strong typography skills.
  • Experience preparing files for print.
  • Excellent time management and project management skills, with the ability to prioritize and complete multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Goal-oriented team player capable of building productive relationships.
  • Creative problem-solving, decision-making, and time management skills.
  • Proficiency using social media platforms for marketing.
  • Nice to have: experience or interest in product photography and videography.

Salary Range: $66,500 to $68,500, with eligibility for annual profit sharing or bonus based on company results.

Application Process: Please apply via our ATS system by June 5, 2025, including your resume, cover letter, and portfolio (link or PDF). Review our applicant resources and remote work guidelines beforehand.

Our postings include a good faith estimate of compensation, considering role specifics and candidate qualifications. Full-time employees are eligible for comprehensive benefits, including health insurance, retirement plans, disability insurance, and paid time off.
