Job description

Checkpoint Surgical is a growth-stage medical device company headquartered in Cleveland, OH. We develop and commercialize instruments and biologics for peripheral nerve surgery — a market we helped define and continue to lead. Our products are used by hand surgeons, plastic surgeons, and orthopedic specialists across the country. With roughly 60 employees and a national sales network, we operate with the speed of a startup and the clinical credibility of an established brand.

We are adding a Marketing Coordinator to support our growing commercial and education programs. This role sits at the intersection of field execution, surgeon education, and internal collaboration — and is a strong fit for someone who thrives on logistics, detail, and cross-functional ownership.

The Role

The Marketing Coordinator will own the planning and execution of local and regional surgeon education events, including dinner programs, hands‑on workshops, and product training sessions. You will work closely with our VP of Marketing, Regional Sales Managers, and clinical team to design high‑quality educational experiences that advance surgeon adoption and support our commercial strategy.

This is a highly operational role that requires strong project management skills, vendor relationships, and the ability to manage multiple events simultaneously across different geographies.

Key Responsibilities
Education Events & Dinner Programs
  • Plan and execute local and regional surgeon education events, including dinner programs, product training sessions, and hands‑on workshops
  • Manage all event logistics: venue selection and contracting, AV, catering, invitations, attendee tracking, and day‑of coordination
  • Partner with Regional Sales Managers to identify high‑priority target accounts and ensure events align with territory strategy and budget
  • Coordinate faculty, speakers, and clinical educators; prepare run‑of‑show documents and supporting materials
  • Track event budgets and reconcile expenses against approved spend by event and region
  • Maintain an event calendar and manage scheduling to avoid conflicts across regions
  • Own and maintain the corporate marketing calendar, ensuring all campaigns, events, and key dates are current and accessible to the sales and marketing teams
  • Build and maintain surgeon invitation lists in coordination with the sales team
  • Manage RSVPs and pre‑event communications; send confirmations, reminders, and follow‑up surveys
  • Ensure HCP engagement documentation is compliant with company policy and applicable sunshine act reporting requirements
Content & Materials
  • Coordinate production of event materials: agendas, presentation decks, printed handouts, and branded items
  • Work with the Marketing, Sales and Clinical Teams to ensure messaging and clinical content is current and approved
  • Support post‑event reporting: attendance, spend, feedback, and follow‑up action items
  • Build and maintain relationships with preferred vendors (venues, AV, catering)
  • Process purchase orders, invoices, and expense reports in a timely manner
  • Support national sales meeting logistics and other company-sponsored events as needed
Qualifications
Required
  • 2+ years of experience in event coordination, field marketing, or commercial operations — medical device or life sciences preferred
  • Strong project management skills; ability to manage multiple events and timelines simultaneously
  • High attention to detail; comfortable working in fast‑moving environments with shifting priorities
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); familiarity with project management or CRM tools a plus
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Willingness to travel up to 10% to support regional events
Preferred
  • Experience with HCP engagement compliance documentation and sunshine act reporting
  • Familiarity with surgical specialties (hand surgery, orthopedics, plastic surgery) or peripheral nerve
What We Offer
  • A front‑row seat to a commercial‑stage medical device company on a strong growth trajectory
  • Direct access to marketing and sales leadership — this role has visibility and impact from day one
  • Competitive compensation, health benefits, and 401(k) with match
  • A collaborative, no‑ego team environment where good work is recognized
