Salary: Salary is $70,000–$80,000, commensurate with experience.

Job Type: Full-time, regular staff member

Reports to: Senior Director of Strategic Partnerships

Work Type: Hybrid – The expectations for this position range from full-time in-office work to a blend of remote and in-office work, depending on the Park Trust’s needs.

About National Park Trust

We believe our public parks, lands, and waters should be cared for, enjoyed by, and preserved by all for current and future generations. We accomplish this goal through our mission to preserve parks today and to create park stewards for tomorrow.

National Park Trust protects public lands early and expands access, so the next generation grows up connected to America’s parks. By safeguarding places before they are threatened and opening the door to meaningful park experiences, we turn access into lifelong care.

As National Park Trust enters its next phase of growth and fundraising, we’re investing in clearer storytelling, sharper messaging, and more confident communication — ensuring our impact is understood, felt, and supported by donors, partners, and communities nationwide.

Position Overview

We are seeking a Marketing & Communications Manager to help shape how our organization tells its story — and to translate that story into increased awareness, engagement, and support from donors and partners.

This is a hands‑on, manager‑level role for a strong writer and storyteller who can take strategic direction, bring it to life across channels, and contribute original ideas and creative energy. You’ll work closely with leadership to apply a clear messaging framework and build on the Park Trust’s existing momentum, helping evolve how the brand shows up as the organization grows.

In this role, you’ll take day‑to‑day ownership of core communications channels (including social, email, web, and press), in close collaboration with leadership, ensuring the Trust’s impact is communicated clearly, consistently, and in ways that inspire people to get involved. You will play an important part in supporting fundraising and partner engagement through clear, compelling communications.

This role offers the chance to work creatively across channels — from social media and email to events and campaigns — and is ideal for someone energized by storytelling, passionate about parks, and motivated by building long‑term care for the land.

This is an exciting opportunity for a mid‑level communications professional to step into greater responsibility, sharpen their storytelling skills, and help grow a mission‑driven brand at a pivotal moment.

Detailed Position Description
Messaging & Storytelling
  • Execute the Trust’s messaging framework across key touchpoints, ensuring clarity, consistency, and strong narrative through‑lines
  • Write and edit compelling content that clearly communicates the “so what” — why NPT’s work matters and how supporter engagement makes a positive impact
  • Translate programs, land protection wins, and youth engagement into donor‑ and partner‑ready stories
  • Support donor cultivation and stewardship by tailoring stories for fundraising campaigns, partner communications, and stewardship touchpoints
Content & Campaign Execution
  • Lead editorial planning across social media, email, and online articles/content
  • Write and edit high‑quality copy, including press releases, articles, email campaigns, donor communications, monthly newsletters, and campaign content
  • End‑to‑end management of campaigns, from planning to execution and analysis
  • Support basic design for development events and programs, including emails, invitations, flyers, and other digital materials
  • Support content capture at events and programs, including photography and short‑form video
  • Maintain and organize photo and video libraries for ongoing use
Social Media
  • Manage and craft social media content across platforms (Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, LinkedIn, others as appropriate)
  • Create and publish short‑form video content (ie. Reels, TikToks) and simple visual assets using tools like Canva or similar
  • Actively listen, respond, and engage our audience on social media platforms, looking for opportunities to insert our mission into relevant conversations in a thoughtful and professional way
  • Monitor content performance and analytics to inform future messaging decisions
  • Focus on quality, mission‑aligned content rather than volume, and prioritize platforms based on audience and capacity
  • Work closely with development, programs, and leadership to surface strong stories and timely content
  • Collaborate with external consultants and creative partners as needed
  • Manage timelines and priorities across multiple content streams
Help steward National Park Trust brand by ensuring tone, voice, and visual consistency across all public‑facing materials
Who You Are
  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university
  • 3–5 years of experience in communications, content, or marketing
  • A strong storyteller and writer who understands how to make an impact compelling for donors
  • Experience supporting or managing content calendars and editorial workflows
  • Comfortable taking direction and confident offering ideas and POV
  • Assertive, thoughtful, and collaborative
  • Organized, reliable, and able to manage multiple projects at once
  • Comfortable working in the office and attending events to capture content when needed
  • Passion for parks, conservation, education, and/or youth engagement
Skills and Experience
  • Excellent writing and editing skills across formats (web, email, social, press)
  • Experience supporting or managing social media channels
  • Basic photography and video capture/editing skills (or strong interest in learning)
  • Familiarity with tools like Mailchimp, Canva, and Google Analytics
  • Strong attention to detail and follow‑through
Nice To Have
  • Experience working in or alongside a nonprofit or mission‑driven organization, especially in fundraising or donor communications
  • Familiarity with SEO and AEO best practices, and how content supports discoverability and long‑term visibility

  • Comfort collaborating with development or fundraising teams on campaigns and appeals
  • Basic analytics experience (ie, Google Analytics, social insights, email reporting) to inform messaging decisions
