Responsibilities

We are searching for a Marketing & Communications Manager to collaborate with leaders in Sales, Talent, and Ops, to support Skillwork's growth

Summary

The Marketing & Communications Manager is responsible for leading the organization's integrated marketing and communications strategy in support of Skillwork's growth objectives. Reporting to the VP of Sales Operations, this role develops and drives strategic initiatives that strengthen brand awareness, generate demand, enhance candidate engagement, and support revenue growth.

This position serves as the architect and steward of the company's marketing function, aligning business goals with marketing investments, communications, and market opportunities. The Marketing & Communications Manager provides leadership across brand strategy, digital marketing, communications, content creation and direction, marketing technology, and external partnerships while ensuring effective execution and alignment with internal Skillwork culture, values, and strategic objectives.

While marketing leadership is the primary focus of the position, the Marketing & Communications Manager also serves as a key partner in developing and executing internal and external communications that strengthen employer brand and organizational visibility.

The Marketing & Communications Manager will collaborate closely with Sales Leadership and Operations Leadership to establish scalable marketing programs that support the company's growth strategy and evolving market presence. Additionally, they work closely with the Sales Team to support aspects of planning and execution for trade shows and other promotional activities as well as the Recruiting Team supporting job board advertising and candidate inflow strategy.

Responsibilities / Essential Job Functions
  • Own and execute the annual marketing strategy, budget, and operating calendar, partnering with Sales and Operations Leadership to align priorities and investments with company growth objectives.
  • Develop and execute marketing strategies for client and candidate audiences, ensuring messaging, campaigns, and engagement strategies are clear, consistent, differentiated, and aligned with business needs.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Sales, Operations, Talent, and Leadership teams to identify opportunities and develop marketing initiatives that support growth.
  • Lead digital marketing efforts, including SEO, SEM, paid media, social media, and AI-driven search and discovery strategies to increase brand visibility, candidate recruitment, client engagement, and lead generation.
  • Direct content strategy and production across blogs, newsletters, case studies, thought leadership, video, social media, and other channels, including repurposing content to maximize reach and engagement.
  • Establish governance, workflows, and quality standards for content development and communications to ensure consistency, efficiency, and alignment with brand strategy.
  • Establish and maintain marketing analytics and reporting across GA4, advertising platforms, and other systems to measure performance, connect marketing activity to pipeline, assess ROI, and optimize campaigns.
  • Lead trade shows, conferences, and event marketing, including messaging, booth concepts, promotional materials, lead-capture processes, vendor coordination, and post-event ROI analysis.
  • Serve as the steward of the Skillwork brand, ensuring consistent positioning, messaging, and client and candidate experience across all marketing, communications, and business development channels.
  • Own client and candidate journey strategy, establishing marketing automation, nurture programs, segmentation approaches, and engagement frameworks that improve conversion outcomes.
  • Provide leadership and oversight of external agencies, marketing technology platforms, and strategic vendors to ensure scalable and measurable marketing operations while staying current on industry trends, competitive activity, emerging technologies, and marketing best practices.
  • Partner with Leadership to develop and distribute internal communications that support organizational initiatives and business objectives.
  • Develop and manage company-wide communications, including organizational announcements, leadership messaging, employer branding initiatives, and other internal and external business communications.
  • Support public relations and corporate communications efforts through the development of press releases, company announcements, award submissions, speaking opportunities, and industry visibility initiatives.
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
  • Maintains regular in-office attendance as required to effectively perform the essential functions of the position and support collaboration across the organization.
Required Skills & Qualifications
  • 7+ years in progressive marketing and communication strategy and execution, with 3+ years in leadership role.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead through influence, manage external resources, and drive outcomes across multiple stakeholders.
  • Strong strategic planning skills with the ability to translate business objectives into measurable marketing and communications initiatives.
  • Ability to work in computer-based systems, manage databases, develop and execute project-based tools and deliverables, and leverage data to drive business decisions.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication, leadership, and project management skills.
  • Experience creating professional communications for a variety of audiences, including employees, candidates, clients, leadership, and external stakeholders.
  • High level of attention to detail and strong problem-solving capabilities.
  • High integrity, self-motivation, and ability to work independently while meeting deadlines and achieving goals.
  • Strong command of digital tools including MS Office/365 applications, social media platforms, Google Ads, HubSpot or similar CRM, and workflow coordination tools.
  • Ability to engage and communicate with internal and external stakeholders.
Preferred Skills & Qualifications
  • Degree or equivalent experience in Marketing, Communications, or related fields (MBA a plus).
  • Experience in the Staffing Industry, Skilled Trades or with an emerging or start-up company.
  • Ability to gather, interpret, and assess analytics from social media platforms.
  • Demonstrated success contributing to measurable revenue growth through strategic marketing initiatives.
