Goodwill Legacy Group in Indianapolis seeks an experienced Marketing & Communications leader to guide the foundation and organization-wide messaging. You will craft strategic communications, supervise a team, and partner with leaders to advance fundraising, education, and program visibility.
You will oversee content creation, digital marketing, and media relations while ensuring alignment with organizational goals and values. A BA/BS is required; commuting distance is essential.
This position is based at our corporate office in Indianapolis, so candidates must live within commuting distance. The salary range is $65-$80K, and the role primarily provides marketing and communications support to the Goodwill Foundation, the organization’s fundraising arm.
Degree and Credential Requirements - Bachelor’s degree in communication, marketing, public relations, journalism, or a related field.
Communications Process Expertise - Develops and executes integrated marketing, communications, and public relations strategies that support organizational objectives.
Demonstrates success identifying target audiences, developing key messages, and creating compelling content across print, web, email, social media, video, and other communication channels.
Skilled in interviewing, writing, editing, and storytelling to effectively communicate the impact of people, programs, services, and communities.
Builds strong relationships that foster trust and uncover meaningful stories.
Experienced in media relations, story pitching, and securing earned media opportunities.
People Management - Leads, coaches, and develops team members through ongoing feedback, mentorship, and professional development.
Establishes clear expectations, fosters accountability, and creates an environment where employees can grow, contribute, and succeed.
Supports individual and team performance while promoting collaboration, engagement, and continuous learning.
Project Management (Marketing) - Manages multiple projects, campaigns, and priorities simultaneously while ensuring successful execution within established timelines and budgets.
Develops project plans that identify objectives, resources, deadlines, and measures of success.
Anticipates challenges, adapts to changing priorities, and implements solutions that support efficient project completion.
Demonstrates sound judgment and strong problem-solving skills when navigating competing demands and organizational needs.
Strategic Partner - Serves as a trusted advisor to leaders and stakeholders by aligning marketing and communications strategies with organizational priorities.
Understands business and mission objectives and translates them into effective communications approaches that engage target audiences and drive results.
Uses critical thinking, business acumen, and data-informed decision-making to evaluate opportunities, provide recommendations, and influence outcomes.
Builds collaborative relationships and effectively navigates change while maintaining a focus on organizational success.
Editing and Proofreading - Applies a high degree of detail attention related to the writing and review of one’s own or others’ written work.
Uses a critical eye in evaluating content, grammar, punctuation, etc.
Communicates clearly and tactfully with all team members any changes, suggestions, and directions for improvement.
Communication Skills - Articulates thoughts and expresses ideas effectively using oral, written, visual, and non-verbal communication skills, as well as listening skills to comprehend customers’ needs.
Delivers information in person, in writing, and in a digital world.
Planning and Prioritization - Manages competing demands by effectively organizing issues by relevance considering operational objectives and customer service excellence.
Excellent time management, planning scheduling, and coordination skills.
Is able to work in a highly structured environment and quickly adapts to changes in priorities or deadlines while maintaining a positive attitude.
Effectively navigates complex situations to ensure that tasks are completed on time and to a high standard.
Teamwork - Works well with others and makes valued contributions in a team setting to achieve the required goals and outcomes.

Technical Knowledge - Has proficient knowledge of G Suite, MS Office, database mining and management, and Internet searching.
Skilled at using a data-tracking system to record contacts, media results, and categories of coverage.
Ethical - Adheres to procedures and protocol, including maintaining confidentiality in passwords, logging on and off procedures, and adherence to Goodwill’s values.
