Job summary

The American Heart Association is offering a Marketing Communications internship in Chicago with a hybrid work arrangement. You will assist in producing press materials, social media content, and campaign communications while collaborating with teams across the Marketing and Communications groups and the Chicago team.

Ideal candidates are seniors or grad students in journalism, communications, public relations, or marketing, with strong written and verbal skills, and the ability to manage

Qualifications

• Seniors or grad students in journalism, communications, public relations, or marketing.
• Excellent verbal and written communication.
• Demonstrated skills in effective one-on-one and group communications.
• Experience managing or creating content for social media platforms.
• Ability to guide projects from inception through completion.
• Able to multitask in a fast-paced nonprofit environment.
• Proficient in MS Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Canva.
• Required Equipment: Reliable Wi-Fi and transportation.
• Minimum availability of 20 hrs/wk, M-F 9am-5pm.
• Must be available to work in the Chicago office on Tuesdays.
• Must be available for event dates: Go Red for Women Luncheon and Heart Ball.

Responsibilities

• Assist in developing news releases and press materials.
• Draft Marketing Communications materials to promote campaigns and events.
• Collaborate with lead on planning and executing marketing and communications efforts.
• Provide ideas to support strategic marketing, PR, and corporate communications.
• Research potential media collaborators and opportunities to advance priorities.
• Prepare media coverage reports by tracking top media placements.
• Support campaign reports and recaps creation.
• Create social media content for Chicago platforms.
• Support fundraising events via communications, including content capture and stage management.
• Coordinate survivor Storybank with current and prospective survivors.
