Job summary

Houston Grand Opera is seeking a Marketing Communications Coordinator to manage end-to-end email campaigns, craft brand-aligned copy, and optimize automated journeys. You’ll collaborate with the Audience Data team to pull segmentation and ensure timely, impactful communications across campaigns and across departments.

The role supports content updates, season announcements, and data-driven reporting while promoting the HGO brand and audience growth in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, advertising, or sales preferred.
  • 1-3 years relevant experience required.
  • Proficiency in writing is required. Writing samples will be requested.
  • Experience working in an email marketing platform (Active Campaign, Constant Contact, MailChimp, WordFly, Prospect2) preferred.
  • Experience working in a CRM database system (especially Tessitura) is a plus.
  • Background in performing arts is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Execute end-to-end email marketing campaigns, including calendar management, build, testing, deployment, and reporting.
  • Write, edit, and proof compelling copy aligned with HGO’s brand voice and campaign goals.
  • Stay current on marketing trends and best practices, proactively identifying opportunities to enhance campaign performance, engagement, and content ideas.
  • Develop and optimize automated email campaigns and journeys to support audience engagement and lifecycle marketing efforts including automations, regular A/B testing, and employing a consistent best-practice approach.
  • Work closely with Audience Data team to request, create, and pull segmentation and lists needed for campaigns through Tessitura.
  • Ensure cross-departmental collaboration on asset development for marketing efforts by submitting timely requests for designs, videos, blog articles, etc. needs that provide colleagues with clear direction and timelines.
  • Maintain and update HGO.org content related to subscription, single ticket, and other sales initiatives, ensuring pages are accurate, current, and aligned with marketing campaigns.
  • Support annual season announcement website updates and content rollovers.
  • Ensure appropriate timing of communications, and seamless cross-departmental communications within HGO including the Butler Studio, Community Impact, Philanthropy, and Special Events.
  • Manage digital cross-promotional partnerships with arts partners, including email list exchanges cross-promotional email communications to expand reach and grow HGO’s audience.
  • Assist in creating forms for Marketing team to collect data, increase audiences for our email subscriptions, database, and lead lists.
  • Collaborate with Digital Marketing team and Marketing Manager to maintain marketing data and reports for Executive Leadership summaries across variety of business needs.
  • Monitor email health metrics such as open rates, click-through rates, unsubscribes and provide monthly reports on performance to inform future strategies.
  • Perform various other tasks that may be assigned by the Marketing Manager, Advertising, Associate Director of Marketing or Director of Marketing.
