Job summary

BNSF Railway in Fort Worth, TX is seeking a Summer Intern in the Marketing Department. This full-time internship offers hands-on projects, market analysis, and campaign support to develop essential marketing and analytical skills.

Under mentorship, you will gain knowledge of the Marketing department, lead projects within a unit, learn the company’s strategies, and explore opportunities to transition to a Management Trainee role after graduation. Some remote work is available one day per week.

Qualifications

  • Legally authorized to work in the United States and will be at least 18 years old.
  • Pursuing a Bachelor's or Graduate degree in Marketing, Industrial Engineering, Business or Supply Chain Management OR a similar degree program from an accredited university.
  • Have at least a 2.75 GPA.
  • Less than three years of professional work experience (excluding internships).

Responsibilities

  • Gain knowledge of the Marketing department, the BNSF network, and its internal systems & applications in the Customer Support Department.
  • Lead projects within a Marketing business unit to enhance the customer experience, identify market trends, improve, or grow current business strategies.
  • Develop an understanding of BNSF's current business strategies, relevant markets and identified opportunities.
  • Conduct research leveraging internal and external sources and analyzing data to identify trends.
  • Learn Marketing systems and current process flows.
  • Interact and communicate with a team, leaders, and customers.
  • Create recommendations based on analysis to improve processes and implement new workflows.
  • Possess leadership, teamwork, clear communication, adaptability and resilience to meet deadlines.
  • Daily work is conducted in an indoor office environment.

A Summer Intern in the Marketing Department is designed for students to delve into the world of marketing within the freight transportation sector. This immersive experience provides interns with a hands-on opportunity to work on strategic projects, engage in market analysis, and contribute to promotional campaigns while gaining a comprehensive understanding of the logistics and transportation industry's marketing dynamics. Under the mentorship of seasoned marketing professionals, interns will develop critical thinking, analytical, and communication skills, preparing them for a successful career in marketing. Successful Interns may be hired as full-time Management Trainees upon graduation.

This is a full-time position located in Fort Worth, TX. For certain positions, including this one, employees can work one day per week remotely. Our leaders also foster a culture where work life balance, which requires flexibility for when life happens, is important and respected.

Travel is minimal, must have reliable transportation to and from work.

Relocation is required if located more than 50 miles from the work location.

Training will start with a two-day orientation in Fort Worth, Texas, offering a company overview and networking with leaders. This will be followed by support on ongoing projects and practical training with the department.

Key responsibilities may include:

Gain knowledge of the Marketing department, the BNSF network, and its internal systems & applications in the Customer Support Department.

Lead projects within a Marketing business unit (Industrial Products, Agricultural Products or Consumer Products) intended to enhance the customer experience, identify market trends, improve, or grow current business strategies, and create efficiencies in current processes.

Develop an understanding of BNSF's current business strategies, relevant markets and identified opportunities.

Conduct research leveraging internal and external sources and analyzing data to identify trends.

Learn Marketing systems and current process flows.

Interact and communicate with a team, leaders, and customers.

Create recommendations based on analysis and communication to various levels within the department. Identify and implement new process flows or automations to current processes.

Possess leadership, teamwork, clear communication, adaptability, and resilience to overcome obstacles and meet deadlines in a dynamic work environment.

Daily work is conducted in an indoor office environment.

Basic Qualifications:
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States and will be at least eighteen (18) years old upon hire.
  • Does not require BNSF’s assistance, now or in the future, (whether monetary, through sponsorship, or otherwise) to obtain, maintain, or extend employment authorization (including H-1B, STEM OPT/CPT, or TN nonimmigrant status).
  • Pursuing a Bachelors or Graduate degree in Marketing, Industrial Engineering, Business or Supply Chain Management OR a similar degree program from an accredited university.
  • Have and will maintain at least a 2.75 cumulative GPA.
  • Have LESS THAN three (3) years of professional work experience, EXCLUDING internships, part-time jobs, or positions held while pursuing my undergraduate and/or graduate degree.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Prior intern experience or less than 3 years of work experience in Marketing, Industrial Engineering, Business, or a Supply Chain related field.
  • Have or have held a leadership position in a campus, community, or extracurricular organization.
  • Pursuing a degree in Marketing (B2B) or Industrial Engineering.
