Job summary

Whiting-Turner in Tampa on Harbour Island is seeking a Marketing Assistant to support operations teams and project managers from strategy through proposals in a deadline-driven environment.

The role emphasizes editing, transforming narratives into visual responses, and preparing client presentations, with substantial use of PowerPoint, Word, Excel, and Photoshop. Occasional travel (1–3 days) is expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Marketing or Communications required.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365 including PowerPoint, Word and Excel.
• Experience with Adobe Photoshop preferred.
• Willingness to travel occasionally (1–3 days).

Job description

Whiting-Turner, the fourth largest domestic contractor per ENR, is hiring in our Tampa office! We are looking for a marketing assistant to join our growing team located on Harbour Island.

The marketing assistant is responsible for working with the operations groups, project managers through senior vice presidents, in their pursuits to get work. The marketing assistant participates in all stages of the pursuit, from strategy to proposal preparation to presentations, in a deadline-driven environment.

Some of the marketing assistant’s duties for project pursuits include:

• Collaborating with operations to determine best strategy in responding to an RFQ / RFP.
• Editing content to ensure quality, accuracy, readability, etc.
• Transforming text-heavy narratives into visual/graphical responses.
• Preparing teams for client presentations.
• Performing market research.

The majority of the position is working with:

• Microsoft Office 365 including PowerPoint, Word and Excel.
• Adobe Photoshop (an extensive knowledge of the program is a plus, but not a requirement).
• Company opportunity management software.

The successful candidate must have a bachelor’s degree in Marketing or Communications and should be proficient in the software mentioned above. Sporadic travel is required, generally occurring 1-3 days at a time.
