About First Responders Children’s Foundation

First Responders Children’s Foundation is a national nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting the children and families of first responders through scholarships, mental health programs, emergency financial assistance, natural disaster relief, and community engagement. The Foundation works closely with law enforcement, fire departments, emergency medical personnel, and frontline leadership, as well as corporate, philanthropic, and government partners. We are a fast-growing, mission‑driven organization, celebrating our 25th anniversary in 2026, with a small, collaborative marketing team and big goals to elevate our national impact.

Position Summary

The Marketing Assistant is an integral member of the Marketing & Communications team, supporting the day‑to‑day execution of campaigns, content, and departmental operations. This role is ideal for a highly organized, creative, and curious marketer early in their career who is eager to learn, contribute, and grow.

You are someone who thrives in a fast‑paced environment, enjoys both creative and operational work, and takes pride in keeping things running smoothly behind the scenes. You’re detail‑oriented, proactive, and comfortable juggling multiple priorities—whether that’s supporting a campaign launch, organizing digital assets, coordinating with external partners, or helping capture and share stories from the field.

This is a unique opportunity to join a national nonprofit at a moment of growth, gaining hands‑on exposure to a wide range of marketing and communications disciplines—including digital, social, content, events, media, and partnerships—while helping amplify a mission rooted in service, sacrifice, and community.

  • Supporting coordination and communication with external consultants, agencies, and vendors.
  • Assisting with cross‑department coordination to ensure alignment and timely delivery of materials.
  • Support department budget administration, including PO creation, invoice entry, and tracking.
  • Assist with additional projects and tasks as directed by the Chief Strategy, Marketing & Communications Officer.
Social Media, Content & Digital Engagement
  • Help create, manage, and publish content for social media channels and the Foundation website.
  • Monitor social media channels, track engagement, and suggest creative ways to grow our audience.
  • Support influencer‑related initiatives by helping identify, organize, and track potential influencer partnerships and collaborations.
  • Maintain brand consistency across all digital and social content.
Data, Organization & Analytics
  • Support marketing analytics by gathering data, preparing reports, and helping measure campaign performance.
  • Maintain and update select non‑technical website pages to ensure accurate and current information.
  • Manage and organize digital assets (photos, videos, creative files) to ensure accessibility and consistency.
  • Distribute photo upload links to collect content from staff at field events.
  • Collect, organize, and file photos in shared digital systems.
  • Maintain an online catalog of media coverage, press placements, and client testimonials.
Event & Field Support
  • Provide marketing support for key Foundation events and initiatives, including:
  • 25th Anniversary Gala (May 16)
  • National First Responders Day (October 28)
  • Thanksgiving Day Parade Celebration (November 26)
  • Assist with content collection, coordination, and on‑site support as needed.
What We’re Looking For
  • 2–4 years of relevant experience in a nonprofit, agency, startup, or in‑house marketing environment.
  • Exceptionally strong written and verbal communication skills with a creative edge and impeccable grammar.
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail, follow‑through, and file management skills.
  • Comfortable managing multiple projects in a fast‑moving, collaborative environment.
  • Familiarity with marketing, analytics, and design tools such as Canva, Google Analytics, Klaviyo, and/or Meta Business Suite.
  • Hands‑on experience with social media marketing and/or content creation is a strong plus.
  • Bachelor’s degree in English, Psychology, Business, Marketing, Communications, or a related field.
