If so, your next professional adventure awaits.The Marketing and Communications Specialist supports the recruitment, retention and outreach for multiple units within The College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, as well as brand strategy, marketing and priority communications initiatives.This position will plan, develop and write creative, high-quality communications and strategic plans for a wide variety of audiences, including faculty, staff, students, donors, prospective students and the general public, using multiple digital and print communications mediums.Reporting to the Assistant Director of Marketing and Communications for The College, this role will oversee communication efforts for multiple units within The College, working closely with faculty, staff, leadership and The College marketing team to plan and execute strategic marketing initiatives that advance unit priorities and strengthen The College's brand.Position Salary Range:$65,000 - $75,000 per year; DOEEssential Duties:• Serves as liaison between specific unit/center(s) and The College marketing team.• Builds awareness of events and engagement opportunities among alumni, donors and community members.• Creates and maintains editorial calendars, content plans and strategic framework for associated high-profile university-wide and unit/center initiatives.• Conducts content audits and gap analyses. Recommends strategies for improvement.• Communicates regularly with communications and media relations representatives across The College and ASU to source content, coordinate efforts with external media teams and ensure accurate representation of the unit/center.• Plans, develops and writes creative, high-quality communications and strategic plans for the unit/center (e.g., faculty, staff, students, donors, prospective students and the general public) using multiple digital and print communications mediums (e.g. email, print, web, social media).• Proofs and copy-edits materials for accuracy, style, consistency, voice and readability, recommends and makes changes where necessary in materials, including print, social, video, podcasts, slideshows and informational graphics.• Researches and develops social media and digital marketing strategies and standards to reach and engage online customer/member audiences.• Creates and maintains webpages using HTML and other computer software.• Maintains and updates school website pages with timely program, event and news content.• Creates and prepares email lists, manipulates files for segmented campaigns and ensures accurate uploading and/or field mapping.• Maintains and adheres to the ASU and The College brand voice and tone.• Tracks research accomplishments of faculty, scientists and students to prepare annual reports and other external communications to support outreach and development initiatives.• Builds individual email campaigns, including editing HTML, uploading images and graphics and designing campaign templates as needed.• Ensures quality and accuracy of email campaigns by critically evaluating/verifying large contact lists, thoroughly testing and proofing campaigns and complying with industry direct mail protocols to maintain a high email sending reputation.• Analyzes social media, email and web analytics, and helps generate performance reports and develop improvement plans.• Develops effective social media campaigns, designs content utilizing Canva or similar programs and schedules via social media tools.• Researches and collects information, including investigating potential stories, uncovering relevant sources and existing content, interviewing and other intelligence-gathering techniques.• Determines the appropriate timing and newsworthy angle and produces stories with an eye towards advanced journalistic style and writing ability.Desired Qualifications:• Demonstrated excellence in verbal and written communication skills, including a thorough understanding of AP style and following a writing style guide.• Demonstrated experience in developing effective social media campaigns and utilizing social media scheduling tools.• Demonstrated knowledge of Salesforce Marketing Cloud or other email marketing platforms.• Demonstrated knowledge of Drupal or other website management platforms.• Demonstrated experience working in a higher education and/or executive environment.• Experience planning, developing and producing creative, high-quality communications content for multiple audiences and channels.• Experience translating complicated or technical subjects into common language.• Experience interviewing subject matter experts.• Experience in planning and maintaining a regular editorial schedule and pitching stories to editors or supervisors.• Experience in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with faculty,• staff, students, alumni and development teams and community partners.• Experience writing feature stories for general audiences.• Demonstrated skill in project management, strategic communication planning and media placement.Working Environment:• This position is located on ASU’s Tempe campus, with an opportunity to work remote two days after onboarding and training.• Frequently bend, reach, lift, push and pull up to 25 pounds.• Activities on location may occur in interior or exterior settings.• Use of standard office equipment including, but not limited to: computer workstation/laptop • (keyboard, monitor, mouse), printer.• Provide in-person, video (Zoom), email and phone customer service.Department Statement:The College of Liberal Arts and Sciences (The College) is the largest college at ASU and is organized in a divisional structure comprised of Humanities, Natural Sciences, and Social Sciences.
