Job summary

HODGE is hiring a Marketing and Communications Specialist in Dubuque, IA. You will craft compelling internal content, plan communications, and collaborate with leaders across departments to align messaging with company goals and culture.

You’ll create multi-channel campaigns, manage internal events, and support external marketing efforts while upholding our safety-first culture and core values.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in English, Journalism, Communications, or a related field.
  • Two or more years of experience in communications, marketing, or a related role.
  • Strong writing and verbal skills with ability to connect with diverse audiences.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain communication plans and content calendars for consistent messaging.
  • Collaborate with leaders to align content with company goals and culture.
  • Plan and monitor internal communication campaigns from inception to completion.
  • Create compelling content and multi-channel campaigns across email, app notifications, print, and digital.
  • Work with stakeholders to ensure branding consistency and marketing collateral alignment.
  • Monitor and optimize communication performance using data-driven insights.
  • Support external marketing efforts including Google My Business and social content.
  • Plan and coordinate internal events and employee engagement activities.
  • Oversee inventory of print materials and branded merchandise.
  • Promote safety-first culture and uphold company values in all communications.
  • Travel as needed and contribute to team culture.

What You'll Do
  • Communication Planning and Execution:
    • Develop and maintain comprehensive communication plans and content calendars to ensure consistency and timely messaging.
    • Collaborate with leaders and business units to brainstorm, strategize, and align content with company goals and culture.
    • Plan, execute, and monitor internal communication campaigns from inception to completion.
  • Content Creation and Storytelling:
    • Craft compelling content, including feature stories, updates on company initiatives, and employee spotlights, to inspire and engage team members.
    • Develop multi-channel internal communication campaigns across email, app notifications, print, and digital mediums.
    • Tailor content to specific audiences, ensuring alignment with brand voice and strategic goals.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration:
    • Work closely with stakeholders across departments to ensure communications reflect the needs of different business areas.
    • Assist in creating marketing collateral using Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop), ensuring adherence to branding guidelines.
  • Campaign Monitoring:
    • Track, analyze, and optimize communication performance, particularly via the employee app, providing data‑driven insights for improvement.
    • Ensure seamless coordination across multiple channels (employee app, email, print) and build alignment with broader marketing efforts.
  • External Communication Support:
    • Support external marketing efforts where needed, including managing Google My Business pages, drafting social media content, and contributing to special projects.
  • Internal Event Planning and Coordination:
    • Plan and coordinate internal events, including Co-CEO visits, engagement team support, and additional company celebrations, in collaboration with leadership and key stakeholders.
  • Inventory Management:
    • Oversee the inventory of print materials and branded merchandise, ensuring timely production and distribution to key stakeholders.
  • Safety and Company Values:
    • Promote a safety-first culture, ensuring communications reflect the company’s dedication to safety protocols.

Qualifications
  • Education/Experience:

  • Technical Skills:
    • Strong technical writing and verbal communication skills, with the ability to create content that connects with diverse audiences.
    • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign) to create on-brand materials.
    • Familiarity with Content Management Systems (CMS) and online content marketing strategies.
  • Project Management:
    • Strong organizational skills to oversee multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
    • Ability to develop and execute communication strategies, including content calendars, ensuring consistency and alignment with company goals.
  • Digital and Analytical Skills:
    • Experience with analyzing communication performance and using data to make informed recommendations for improvement.
    • Knowledge of social media development and management strategies.
