Job description

About Global Impact Collective

Global Impact Collective is a woman-owned strategy consultancy transforming food systems for a sustainable future. We partner with forward-thinking companies and organizations at the intersection of business strategy, sustainability, and systems change, taking a human-centered approach to create measurable impact.

We believe food systems are built with people: farmers, fishers, warehouse workers, drivers, chefs, and consumers. That's why our work spans the entire food value chain — from field and sea through distribution and manufacturing to consumption and waste reduction — while addressing the economic, political, and social systems that shape how we grow, move, and consume food.

The Opportunity

We're seeking a Marketing and Communications Manager to support marketing, communications, campaigns, and events across our client work and GIC initiatives. This is a hands‑on role for someone who is a strong writer and editor, highly organized, and excited to help turn ideas into communications that people want to read and act upon. You'll work with senior consultants and client teams to develop newsletters and other content, support client internal communications and engagement campaigns, coordinate communications calendars, and help keep events and related projects moving.

Additionally, you’ll support GIC marketing and communications initiatives, including managing our website, coordinating the editorial calendar, writing and editing blog posts, managing our social media presence, overseeing our brand, developing sales materials, and coordinating event communications. You'll have the opportunity to contribute both creatively and operationally: helping shape how we communicate an idea, then managing the details needed to get it out the door.

Remote (Seattle, WA preferred) | Fulltime Contract (with potential conversion to FTE)

What You'll Do
  • Develop and edit content: Draft, edit, and proofread newsletters, emails, announcements, presentations, web content, and other communications, turning input from multiple contributors into clear, engaging content.
  • Plan and execute communications campaigns: Develop and manage campaigns and communications calendars, including messaging, timing, and audience targeting, to build awareness, participation, and engagement.
  • Create communications materials: Develop and refine PowerPoint presentations, email content, simple graphics, and other materials, working within established brands and templates.
  • Support events: Help plan and deliver virtual and in‑person events, including coordinating speakers and stakeholders, managing timelines and deliverables, preparing materials, and supporting rehearsals and event logistics.
  • Support GIC marketing: Help manage our website (Framer) and social media presence (LinkedIn), write and edit blog posts, coordinate the editorial calendar, and support brand and sales materials.
  • Manage projects/workstreams: Maintain project plans, timelines, action items, and follow‑ups across communications, campaigns, and events. Proactively identify what needs to happen next and follow up with contributors to keep work on schedule.
  • Because we're a small team, the role may also support other communications and project needs as they arise.
Who You Are
Essential Qualifications:
  • 4-5 years of relevant experience: Experience in communications, marketing, content development, events, project coordination, or a related field.
  • Strong writer and editor: Able to take rough or complex material and turn it into concise, engaging, polished communications for different audiences.
  • Campaign‑minded: Understands how individual communications fit together to build awareness and drive participation over time.
  • Highly organized: Comfortable managing editorial calendars, deadlines, reviews, stakeholders, and multiple workstreams at once.
  • Strong project manager: Able to take ownership of a workstream, anticipate next steps, follow up with others, and keep deliverables moving without needing constant direction.
  • Detail‑oriented: Notices the small things, from typos and formatting inconsistencies to missing approvals and looming deadlines.
  • Audience‑focused: Thinks about what people need to know, why they should care, and what you want them to do next.
  • Technology fluent: Comfortable with Microsoft Office, particularly PowerPoint and Outlook, and newsletter. Willing to learn and experiment with AI tools. Experience with email marketing, social media scheduling, and/or website platforms (Framer) is a plus.
  • Interested in our work: Genuine interest in food systems, sustainability, social impact, and/or purpose-driven organizations. Prior sector experience is welcome but not required.
Personal Attributes:
  • Curious: Asks good questions and digs for the “why” behind the work.
  • Adaptable: Comfortable with ambiguity in a small, fast-moving team.
  • Client‑service mindset: Takes ownership and follows through.
  • High standards: Cares about the details and quality of work you produce.
  • Team player: Collaborative and willing to pitch in. You take ownership of your work while recognizing that in a small consultancy, everyone sometimes steps outside their immediate role.
  • Flexible: Willing to travel as needed for client engagements and to Seattle (if remote) for quarterly meetings.
  • Kind, grounded, and self‑aware: Cares about doing great work and helping GIC succeed, but keeps work in perspective. Brings kindness, humor, and generosity to the team, and assumes positive intent, Shares perspective candidly, disagrees constructively, and understands that good collaboration includes respecting roles, accountability, and final decision‑making authority.
Preferred:
  • Exposure to human-centered design, design thinking, strategy, or facilitation work
  • Familiarity with budgets, contracts, or invoicing processes
  • Exposure to basic marketing analytics or reporting (e.g., LinkedIn Analytics, Google Analytics, email performance metrics)
