Marketing and Business Development Manager (Legal)

Job Details

Location: Chicago, IL (On-site 5 days per week)

Pay: $45-63/hour depending on experience

Duration: Up to 6 Months with potential for extension or conversion (based on performance and business needs, no guarantees)

Role Overview

The Marketing and Business Development Manager will serve as a dedicated liaison to one or more practice and/or industry groups. They work directly with group leaders and partners to develop and execute strategies, manage marketing initiatives, and deepen client and practice knowledge to foster cross-selling.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement marketing and client development plans in collaboration with practice/industry leaders.
  • Participate in meetings and planning sessions to align strategies.
  • Identify business opportunities using data analytics, industry trends, and market research.
  • Manage the group's marketing infrastructure, ensuring materials are current, accurate, and effective.
  • Assist in budgeting and evaluate ROI of marketing initiatives.
  • Coordinate industry and client research with the Market Intelligence team.
  • Lead initiatives for new business opportunities and cross-marketing efforts.
  • Support onboarding of lateral hires and manage proposal processes, including RFP responses and pitch preparations.
  • Oversee profile-raising activities such as rankings, awards, and thought leadership initiatives.
  • Participate in hiring, managing, and developing staff, and collaborate with other teams on cross-practice projects.
Qualifications
  • Minimum of 8 years of relevant marketing or business development experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communication, business, or related field.
  • Excellent writing, proofreading, and critical thinking skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Outlook.
Preferred Skills & Qualifications
  • Understanding of the legal landscape and experience in legal or professional services marketing.
  • Knowledge of InterAction, Vuture, and document management systems.
  • Strong strategic, analytical, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and maintain confidentiality.
