Job summary

The Salem Pantry is seeking an Assistant Market Manager to support daily Market operations at 47 Leavitt Street, Salem, MA. The role includes assisting guests with SNAP applications and recertifications, supervising volunteers, and ensuring a welcoming, efficient retail experience.

The ideal candidate is friendly, organized, and detail-oriented, with strong communication and problem-solving skills. Evening/weekend hours may be required in a fast-paced public-facing environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
• Bilingual in English and Spanish.
• 1–3 years of grocery or retail experience.
• Prior experience with grocery or food distribution operations is a plus.
• Experience supervising volunteers is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Assist Market Manager with day-to-day operations and overall market performance.
• Open/close The Market in the Manager's absence and supervise staff and volunteers.
• Assist guests with SNAP applications, recertifications, and benefits while maintaining privacy and accurate records.
• Administer guest relations software and ensure a welcoming guest experience.
• Oversee pest control and keep the store clean and compliant with standards.
• Maintain daily temperature logs for freezers and refrigerators.
