Job summary

Hy-Vee is hiring a Market Grille Cook to prep and plate hot and cold items in a fast-paced store kitchen. You’ll handle prep to plate, keep the case stocked, and ensure orders are made with care to deliver a positive guest experience.

Ideal candidates have a HS diploma or equivalent and can thrive in a collaborative team environment; on-the-job training is provided. This role supports restaurant-style service in a grocery setting.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Six months or less of related food service experience; training provided.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced kitchen environment.

Responsibilities

• Provide prompt, friendly customer service and greet customers with a smile.
• Prepare cooking surfaces and all menu items including vegetables, sides, meats, breakfast foods, and heat-and-eat varieties.
• Place food in hot cases, monitor amounts, and refill as necessary during the shift.
• Stay knowledgeable of all menu items and take guest orders as needed.
• Prepare items for upcoming shifts to keep the department running smoothly.
• Maintain sanitation and keep work area clean and organized at all times.
• Order product and supplies as needed or notify department managers of needs.
• Work as a team to ensure customer satisfaction and a pleasant work environment.
