Job summary

Hy-Vee is seeking a Market Grille Clerk to join our busy store environment. You will greet customers, take orders, prepare and replenish menu items, and ensure safety and quality in food handling.

Daily duties include running the register, stocking ingredients, and keeping a clean, sanitary workspace. We value teamwork, reliability, and a friendly, helpful attitude to delight every customer who visits the Market Grille.

Qualifications

• No education required; we will provide all the training you need to succeed.
• Six months or less of similar or related work experience; prior food service experience is a plus

Responsibilities

• Provide prompt, friendly customer service, greeting customers with a smile, learning their names, and going the extra mile to make every visit a positive one
• Take customer orders at the Market Grille counter and answer the telephone promptly, providing helpful service including taking product orders
• Review daily orders, anticipate product needs, and prepare and replenish product as necessary
• Pull product from the cooler or freezer to prepare for cooking and ensure an adequate food supply is ready
• Handle food safely and review the status and appearance of food for freshness at all times
• Maintain a clean, sanitary work area throughout your shift
• Check in product, put product away, and review invoices as needed
• Run the department register, receive payment, and make change where applicable
• Remove trash in a timely manner and wash dishes as necessary
• Price and order product and deliver orders as needed
• Work with co-workers as a team to ensure customer satisfaction and a pleasant work environment
• Assist in other areas of the store as needed and take on special projects as assigned
• Maintain strict adherence to personal hygiene, dress standards, and all Hy-Vee policies and store guidelines
• Report to work when scheduled and on time
