Job summary

Senesco Marine, LLC is seeking a Marine Systems and Piping Engineer to design, route, and optimize onboard piping, supporting fabrication, installation, and commissioning for new-build and repair projects.

You will interface with the design office and shipyard floor, manage vendor scopes, ensure regulatory compliance with ABS/LR/USCG, and translate drawings into actionable isometrics for production teams to execute. Field checks and ladder climbs are required.

Qualifications

• Degree or diploma in Marine Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Naval Architecture or closely related field.
• Typically 3–7 years of experience in ship design, construction or similar fields.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, ShipConstructor (or equivalent 3D modeling software), Navisworks.
• Deep understanding of maritime fluid dynamics, material selection, equipment selection and pipe support design.
• Combination of office, shipyard and onboard vessel environments.
• Able to perform ship checks, vessel inspections and climb ladders.
• Vision requirement: correctable to 20/40; color vision testing may be required.

Responsibilities

• Marine Systems & Piping Design: perform basic and detailed design, calculations and equipment selection; create diagrams and drawings; issue design change notices.
• Vendor management: coordinate with multiple OEMs and service providers to ensure interface completeness.
• Design reviews: participate in design activities and review documents from other engineers, vendors and partners.
• Technical specifications: prepare specifications, collect vendor information and maintain maker’s list; manage changes in design workflow.
• Regulatory compliance: ensure piping designs meet maritime rules and class/contract requirements; interface with project management, owner and class.
• Production support: translate drawings into piping build strategies and isometrics; review BOMs and support material tracking; verify vendor cutsheets on delivery.
• Primary liaison role: coordinate between design office and shipyard floor; resolve clashes and review as-built documentation.
• Collaboration: coordinate with project teams and external parties; provide training on document management systems; maintain clear communication channels.
