The role emphasizes administration, instructional supervision, credential tracking, and budget planning, with a focus on safety and compliance under USCG and DOL guidelines. On-site leadership is required at Tongue Point JCC.

Qualifications

• Must hold a valid Masters License of 1600 ton NC/Oceans, STCW95 BST, Able Seaman; have served as a Master on qualifying vessels for ≥3 years.
• Excellent communication skills; comply with anti-harassment/anti-discrimination policies; work with diverse student backgrounds.
• Must join Inlandboatmen’s Union of the Pacific (IBU) for medical and retirement benefits.

Responsibilities

• Administer all aspects of the training program, including employment/termination and education of maritime students.
• Supervise Seamanship Program Instructors and ensure compliance with government and management directives, including career technical training instruction.
• Track and monitor staff training and maritime credentials to keep the program current and compliant.
• Develop and prepare lessons; recommend curricula changes and supplemental materials.
• Supervise maintenance and operation of training vessels (T/V Ironwood and others).
• Prepare budgets and maintenance schedules; advise on dry dockings and shipyard work.
