Job summary

Gulf Copper in Galveston, TX is seeking a Payroll Supervisor to oversee day-to-day payroll operations for a large maritime workforce, ensuring accurate, timely, and compliant processing across multi-state assignments.

You will supervise payroll staff, review timekeeping, resolve complex issues, and partner with HR, Finance, Production, and site leadership to ensure proper pay, deductions, and records while upholding confidentiality and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Associate degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or Human Resources preferred.
• Experience with multi-state payroll and heavy industry payroll practices is expected.
• CPP or FPC certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Supervise daily activities of payroll staff, providing direction and training.
• Oversee weekly/bi-weekly payroll processing for hourly and salaried staff in a large maritime workforce.
• Review payroll registers and reports for accuracy and resolve discrepancies.
• Assist with payroll reconciliations, audits, and month-end/year-end activities.
• Ensure compliance with wage/hour requirements, deductions, and company policies.
