Job summary

Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College is seeking an experienced Maritime Multi Craft Apprentice Instructor to teach assigned courses at the AMTC Gulfport campus, maintain student records, and support apprentice success. Requirements include apprentice graduate or teaching experience, ability to obtain NCCER credentials, and strong interpersonal skills; RTI and union experience are valued.

Qualifications

• M1: Apprentice graduate or prior teaching experience with maritime multi craft work experience.
• M2: Related technical instruction (RTI) for maritime industry.
• M3: Ability to obtain NCCER credentials in multiple maritime crafts.
• M4: Strong interpersonal and written skills.
• M5: Prior experience with craft labor unions.
• D1: Associate’s Degree from a regionally accredited institution.
• D2: Teaching experience in a community college and/or high school.
• D3: Multi-media instructional delivery experience.
• D4: Minimum of 2 years maritime supervisory experience.
• D5: Prior experience with curriculum development.

Responsibilities

• Prepare for and deliver instruction while supporting student success by creating an optimum learning environment.
• Assist with curriculum development and program evaluation to maintain course effectiveness.
• Maintain classroom and laboratory areas including upkeep of equipment.
• Routinely assess student performance and advise students in matters related to their programs.
• Teach duties include fostering citizenship, respect for others, and professional conduct.
• Collaborate with advisory committee and attend departmental meetings.
• Abide by MGCCC policies and procedures and promote the program.
• Complete program evaluation and follow-up; participate in professional development.

Education

Apprentice grad / teaching exp

RTI maritime instruction exp

NCCER credentials in multiple maritime crafts

Strong interpersonal and written skills

Experience with craft unions

Assoc degree or higher (Desirable)

Teaching in community college/high school

Multi-media instructional delivery

Maritime supervisory experience (2+ years)
