Job summary

MANTECH in Hawaii seeks a seasoned Maritime Law Attorney to join our team in Oahu, HI. You will serve as the final Technical Authority for maritime law interpretation, counsel on complex statutes, and oversee high-value maritime contracts.

Ideal candidates hold a law degree, active US bar, and 12+ years of relevant experience; JD preferred; familiarity with Law of the Sea and defense-related maritime matters is a plus. Must have Public Trust clearance and be able to work on-site in Honolulu area.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in law required.
  • 12+ years of relevant maritime law experience.
  • Active bar membership in US jurisdiction.

Responsibilities

  • Acts as final Technical Authority for maritime law interpretation and counsels on complex statutes.
  • Authorizes formulation of legal strategies for civil and criminal proceedings and validates high-value maritime contracts.
  • Approves legal frameworks protecting organizational rights in global maritime operations.
  • Ensures compliance of maritime logistics with international treaties and port regulations.
  • Reviews maritime subcontracts and charters for offshore support vessels to mitigate risk.
  • Provides strategic guidance on territorial waters and maritime security for operations.
  • Leads and mentors subordinate staff.

Job description

MANTECH seeks a motivated, career and customer-oriented expert Maritime Law Attorney to join our team in Oahu, HI.

Responsibilities Include But Are Not Limited To
  • Serves as the final Technical Authority for legal interpretation, providing counsel on complex maritime statutes and international law of the sea
  • Authorizes the formulation of legal strategies for civil and criminal proceedings and validate the execution of high-value maritime contracts
  • Approves legal frameworks that protect organizational rights and obligations in global maritime operations
  • Validates the legal compliance of maritime logistics and sustainment operations within the Pacific, ensuring adherence to international maritime treaties and Host Nation port regulations
  • Authorizes the review of specialized maritime subcontracts and charters for offshore support vessels to mitigate legal risks in contested environments
  • Provides strategic legal guidance on territorial water transits and maritime security protocols for Special Operations missions
  • Provides leadership, guidance, and mentoring to subordinate staff
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Law or a related field
  • 12+ years of position‑relevant experience
  • Active bar membership in the U.S. jurisdiction
Desired Qualifications
  • 15+ years of position‑relevant experience
  • Juris Doctor from an accredited law school
  • Experience advising PACOM or USSOCOM on maritime legal affairs
  • Expert knowledge of the Law of the Sea Convention
Security Clearance Requirements
  • Must possess active Public Trust clearance
Physical Requirements
  • The person in this position must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time
  • Occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, or to communicate with co‑workers, management, and customers via email, phone, and virtual communication which may involve delivering presentations
