Job summary

SGS is seeking a Field Technician I to support regulatory compliance sampling and technical services primarily aboard commercial vessels, harbor craft, and industrial waterfront facilities, as well as at land-based sites. This hands-on role combines field work, sampling, and GLP-driven procedures to ensure sample integrity and compliant results.

The ideal candidate will have an Associate’s degree or higher in a relevant field, 1+ years of experience, the ability to lift up to 40 pounds, and

Qualifications

• Associate degree or higher in a relevant field.
• 1+ years of applicable experience.
• Ability to lift up to 40 pounds safely.
• Familiarity with Good Laboratory Practices (GLP), sample handling, and chain-of-custody procedures.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Comfortable working aboard vessels, in industrial facilities, and in active port environments.
• Willingness to travel and work flexible schedules to support vessel operations.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate with vessel crews, port agents, and site contacts to schedule attendances and conduct sampling and field activities.
• Transport collected samples to the laboratory for analysis and ensure chain of custody.
• Maintain GLP standards and sampling protocols to preserve sample integrity and defensible results.
• Follow safety protocols and use PPE in port, industrial, and field environments.
