Job summary

Tidewater Community College seeks an adjunct faculty member in Engineering/Maritime Technology to teach courses aligned with established outcomes. Classes may meet in person, via Zoom, or online, with ongoing feedback to students to support mastery of course goals.

Responsibilities include delivering instruction, maintaining flexible scheduling (day/evening/weekend), and providing regular office hours. A focus on student success and effective use of learning technologies is essential for program

Qualifications

  • Associate degree required in Engineering/Engineering Technology or related field.
  • Two years of related occupational experience.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in an electronic format.

Responsibilities

  • Create a learning environment that facilitates student knowledge and skills in a discipline/program.
  • Align course activities with learning outcomes and use active learning strategies; provide prompt, meaningful feedback.
  • Deliver instruction and assess student learning with at least one assessment within the first 15% of the course; analyze evaluations and implement action plans.
  • Responsibilities may include day, evening and/or weekend work as assigned.
  • Hold at least 1 office hour per week for each course assigned.
