Job summary

Serco Inc. in Arlington, VA is seeking an Electrical Engineer to join the Maritime Engineering Operation, mentoring junior engineers and working on high-performance maritime systems for Navy and DARPA programs.

You will design power/control systems, interface with vendors, and support installation and testing on ships. A Secret clearance is required post-employment, and US citizenship is mandatory.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain Secret clearance.
  • 2+ years in marine fields: propulsion, machinery control, power or interior comms.
  • Knowledge of MS Office 2010, MATLAB, Simulink, Simulink Coder (Real-Time Workshop), and PLC programming.
  • Ability to perform shipyard/naval base checks.
  • Experience writing requirements and drafting SOW/Technical Instructions.
  • Knowledge of ABS SVR, IEEE 45, CFR46, NFPA, MIL specs.
  • Good written and oral communication skills.
  • U.S. Citizenship required.
  • Able to travel up to 10%.

Responsibilities

  • Develop power/control system hardware and software drawings, schematics, test procedures, and specs per ship design standards (ABS SVR, IEEE 45, NFPA, CFR46, MIL).
  • Develop baseline requirements and architecture for New Construction ships.
  • Interface with vendors/customers to ensure system meets performance specs.
  • Evaluate shipboard machinery control and monitoring systems and interior communications, integrate instrumentation and alarm functions.
  • Travel onboard naval ships to support installation or troubleshoot Power Systems.
