Job summary

SAIC seeks a Mechanical Engineer to join a team focused on maritime off-board countermeasure systems. You will design, analyze, and test mechanical components for naval applications, supporting from concept development to production.

Ideal candidates have 3-5 years of hands-on mechanical design experience, strong CAD/FEA skills, and familiarity with seawater environments and defense standards. This role emphasizes collaboration across engineering teams and suppliers.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
  • 3-5 years hands-on experience in mechanical design, analysis, and testing.
  • Proficiency in CAD software and finite element analysis tools (FEA).
  • Experience with seawater environments, corrosion considerations, and rapid prototyping.
  • Strong written and verbal communication across stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams to design, develop, and test mechanical systems for maritime countermeasure technologies.
  • Participate in all phases of the product lifecycle from requirements analysis to production.
  • Conduct structural, thermal, and fluid analyses to validate designs.
  • Design for harsh maritime environments including corrosion and water pressure.
  • Engage in hands-on integration, troubleshooting, and optimization in lab and field.
  • Prepare drawings, reports, manufacturing instructions, and test specs per MIL-STD/ASME.
  • Collaborate with suppliers to oversee prototyping and production timelines.
  • Stay informed on trends in maritime defense technology.
