Job summary

Kongsberg Discovery in Houston is seeking an Applications Engineer focused on positioning, communications, and reference systems to support sales, deliver demonstrations, and train customers for successful operation of our marine electronics.

You will translate customer needs into actionable product insights, perform onshore deployments with occasional fieldwork, and collaborate with engineering and product management to refine solutions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or equivalent
• Several years of field service experience
• Experience supporting sales teams
• Background in ocean/maritime technology, navigation, GNSS, radar, or related domain
• Pragmatic, self-driven, and solution oriented

Responsibilities

• Develop customer procedures for bespoke operations and applications.
• Partner with the sales team to provide technical expertise during customer engagements, proposals, and solution design discussions.
• Deliver high‑impact product demonstrations—both in person and remotely that clearly communicate system capabilities, value, and differentiation.
• During demonstrations, collect photos, videos and impressive data sets to support sales and marketing collateral.
• Conduct customer training sessions covering system operation, configuration, best practices, and regulatory considerations.
