Job summary

Canal Barge Company seeks a Welder to perform welding on inland marine vessels and equipment, including maintenance and fabrication, with a strong focus on safety and quality to ensure reliability and uptime.

This role requires stick welding experience, the ability to travel between sites, and compliance with ABS when applicable; TWIC is required and a valid driver’s license is preferred for site access. Reporting to the Shipyard Services Manager.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Minimum 2 years of stick welding experience.
  • TWIC credential required.
  • ABS certification preferred but not required.
  • Strong safety practices and attention to detail.
  • Good written, verbal and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

  • Perform welding on inland marine vessels and equipment, including maintenance and fabrication.
  • Weld steel barges and ships using stick and flux core processes.
  • Operate welding equipment safely and follow all safety policies.
  • Travel to multiple locations as needed.
  • Adhere to regulatory requirements and company codes of conduct.
